Another movie that caught my eye (i do tend to watch a lot of movies lol) is a film called Låt den rätte komma or in English... 'Let the right one in'

Ltte komma in (2008)

Its actually already been taken on as a project for hollywood to rehash it in English...all I can say is...thats a total waste of time, why re-do something thats so brilliant. This is an absolute brilliant film, even if you do have to watch it with subtitles. Without a doubt THE best child acting i have EVER seen and that doesnt even come close to how well the story is played out. Im a sucker for vampire movies which is why this initailly caught my interest but this movie exceded my expectations. Interestingly, its a very simple film, not too much going on or too much to expect, but something about this film is very, very compelling. Highly recommended.

As good as it is, I dont think i'll ever watch the soon-to-come American remake...why would I? A washed down english version for those too stupid to read subtitles or recognize brilliant cinema in the first place? Heck, they'll probably change the 12 year olds for 18 year olds just so they can pull off their attraction... Yet again I see a useless remake in the making.

Thats what Hollywood and by extension the studios/networks do.

I don't know whether its because they just want to cash in OR if its because they genuinely think that the American audience is too stupid to understand it (that goes for British shows too) or to lazy to read it, but to be honest I don't care.

I personally don't know of one film/show where I prefer the Americanised remake.

After seeing the trailer (if I'm not mistaken, I actually posted it somewhere around here) of Public Enemies, I definitely want to see it. As soon as possible. It looks amazing. I though it was probably going to be one of those films I was just going to watch because of JD, and enjoy most of it along the way, but if the trailer and some other things I've read about it are anything to go by, it's gonna be total awesomeness.

Also, I sort of missed the whole Gran Torino thing, because of lack of time and media coverage over here. But after reading an interview somewhere, I looked around for a bit, and decided I want to see that one as well.
 
i saw watchmen recently. i have no clue why peaple are putting it down i thought it was great i have not read the graphic novle before veiwing it!! (i am now i wanted to go in with out knowing) yes some parts where a little what just happend? but all in all it's varry good


also after seeing the trailer i want to see the new star treck movie it just leeked cool to me
 
So far this year I've seen:

Twilight - numerous times (more than numerous times actually. you don't wanna know how many) and I'm not a fangirl, I'm a fanWoman 🙂
He's Just Not That Into You - Had some enjoyable moments but for the most part quite silly
Australia - cringeworthy
The Reader - Great film, not what I would call enjoyable, more disturbing than anything but very challenging viewing.
 
Ok, I just finished watching Twilight.

I put this on knowing full well that im not the target audience and that im probably gonna hate it. But I had hope since i often like chick-flicks and romantic crap and the vampire mythology alone is enough to make my glance. Well, i really enjoyed it. There were a few cringe worthy moments (after Edward first shows his vampire self and he starts jumping around like a mad man in the trees) but I thought the acting was brilliant. The music really helped to make their 'stares' in the first half of the movie quite mesmerizing. The first half in fact was very exciting as Bella learned more and more about Ed.

The story was somewhat lacking though, a drawn out love story with one bad guy thrown in right at the end.

I must say though, for the Bluray, this is one of THE best transfers i have seen. Its reference quality and the audio is awesome.
 
I saw Marley and Me last weekend! It was absolutely amazing!! I loved it!! I don't think i've ever cried so much at a film in my life...it was rediculous...i kept trying to be subtle about rubbing away the tears..it didn't work though. Totally recommend it!! I really want a dog now though 😛

Can't wait for the Wolverine movie to come out, i actually let out a squeek and grabbed my friend's arm when i saw a poster of it at the cinema...the cinema man standing near it started laughing at me once i began hyper-ventelating!! 😀
 
I've only seen a few films this year in theatres:

Marley and Me - Great throughout, although the ending was almost unbearable.

He's Just Not That Into You - Decent at best. Usually films with all-star casts end up not being so great.

Doubt - AMAZING. Strongly reccomended.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Very good, albeit very long and lagging at some points.

The Tale of Despereaux - Not very good after reading the very enjoyable book.

I'm sure there were others, but I'm having a hard time remembering.

Agreement about Australia. Three hours of my life I paid to have robbed from me! There was nothing about that film (apart from the random roo thrown in here or there) that showed the (beauty and how amazing) the country is. It could have been set in Nevada for all you knew. And the storyline was utterly dull.

Baz did the country a huge disservice with that. I expected so much more.
 
I watched 'My name is Bruce' last night and it was fricking hilarious!

Best line in the film - 'Next time you raise some funny Chinese god, why not try getting that Buffy chick instead'.

I always knew I wanted to see this movie even if I unlike many people don't have Wolverine as my favourite X-men. He's ok though. 😉

I agree with you on The Tale of Despereaux, my daughter and I were less than pleased with that one. Luckily I didn't go into the theater with high hopes.

And I agree on Marley and Me as far as the "unbearable" ending. I'm NOT at all a fan of tear jerkers. The way I see it, people cry enough in their lifetime. I went with a crowd of my mom, dad, daughter, and sister when I went to see this one. And walking into the theater I pretty much knew how the movie was going to end. But as the credits began to roll, dad and I were the only two left who weren't bawling hysterically. I wound up consoling my 7 year old for the remainder of the day that our dog was not going to die. Don't bring your children to this one peeps. Learn from my mistakes.

I'm looking forward to Where The Wild Things Are, purely on the strength of the trailer.

It's funny though, all across the internet, you can spot the difference between the American and British/ Irish reactions to it. It's kind of like Dr. Seuss, WTWTA just isn't as integral to a European childhood...

Ok, that looks awesome, and I've never heard of WTWTA. Plus, The Arcade Fire will always help sell something to me.

Oh, and about the new X-Men film, I've not been keeping up on this one, so forgive me if I'm being dense. From what I can gather, there will be no Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen, will there? If that's the case then my intrest levels just took a nosedive. Even if Gambit is made of squee.
 
I hope " Wolverine Origins " is good. Where are Deadpool's scars though? Not cool. Should be fun, but i'm worried that there are far to many characters.
And " Where the wild things are" does look great.
 
I went to see "The Haunting in Connecticut" last night and it was really good. 😀 I really want to see "Wolverine Origins" too 'cause the trailer for it looked amazing.
 
Went and saw Adventureland tonight and I LOVED it. Everyone's been saying it has a John Hughes vibe and after seeing it I'm in total agreement, it was fabulous... funny, romantic, endearing, smart... it had it all. Go see it!

I have been waiting for a big screen depiction of Gambit since they started making these steaming piles of poo they call comic book movies... but since they made Rogue such a useless baby I am prepared to be disappointed as usual... (((sigh)))

I get so excited for each new screen adaptation of a beloved comic just to realize that Hollywood is evil and hates geeks with a fiery passion.

Twilight > Well I read the books before I saw the movie. Although I think it's corny, for me it was still enjoyable (book is so much better).
Yes Man > Ehh, everyone said how hilarious it was, I didn't really laugh that much, it was okayish.
Watchmen > Oh how I loved this movie, I've pre-ordered the animated feature "Tales of the Black Freighter".
The Spirit > I honestly didn't know what to expect but I loved it, it was different =]

I didn't really enjoy Bedtime Stories, Inkheart or Duplicity.
Favorite movie for this year would probably be "The Secret Life Of Bees"
I really enjoyed it, and it's not usually a genre I'd go for.


EDIT: Oh Oh how could i forget > this year im on the edge of my seat waiting for HARRY POTTER 😀
