Buffy ep by ep; BUFFY vs DRACULA; the dark prince and penetration

Just saw this ep again. I always get punched in the gut at the end when we have the sudden reveal of Dawn. I can remember, the first time I saw the series, being big-time WTF, when episode after episode, we don't get an explanation for Dawn. Guess that's part of the Joss Whedon allure, how he must relish in breaking the typical television series rules and gives us something new, fresh and, sometimes, perplexing.

Yeah, one of the great things about Dawnie is that for the first half dozen eps she really is just Buffy's little sis, special alright but only in the way every little sister/daughter is

My fav line- DRACULA: You are strange and off-putting. Go now. I LMAO at that one.

Season 4 was not really kind to Xander, so I love how he already has a greater role in season 5.

I hadn't before realized that Dracula repeats to Buffy what Tara told her in her dream in Restless: "You think you know. What you are, what's to come… you haven't even begun."

Great Marti Noxon interview about this episode: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/buffy/interviews/noxon/page5.shtml

Oh, also I wondered about this line: Buffy: Like I paint clowns or something.

And I found this:
When Dracula refers to Buffy as a killer, she objects saying it makes her sound like she paints clowns. This is a reference to famous serial killer John Wayne Gacy who painted clown pictures as a hobby, and also enjoyed dressing as a clown

Is this true?

Yes, a very sad case. Sufjan Stevens wrote a song about him on Illinois.

Yes, I read somewhere that Johnny Depp collects his paintings. No wonder so many people have clourophobia (including Xander)

That's what I always thought it was referring to. I could be wrong though.

I have it too. Can't stand them. Sad really. A 22 year old scared of clowns 🙁

It's not that weird being afraid of clowns, Pennywise, Killer Klowns From Outer Space.. Clowns are creepy..

But I love this episode, it's great.. one thing that annoys me is that terrible editing right in the beginning when Buffy and Riley are lying bed together, there is a close-up to Buffy's face and you can see Rileys elbow by her face and then it cuts to a shot of both them next to each other and it's Rileys hand that's by her face.

Best line: Willow - Now that I know there's something to know, I can't not know, just because I'm afraid somebody will know I know. You know?

haha

Killer Klowns Karma!
My favorite parts:

DRACULA: I have no interest in you. Leave us.
XANDER: No, we're not going to (in Dracula's accent) "leave you." And where'd you get that accent, Sesame Street? (ala the Count) Vun, two, three -- three victims. Mwa ha ha!
BUFFY: Xander, I'm pretty sure that's Dracula.
[Xander hides behind Buffy]

and later:

DRACULA: You are strange and off-putting. Go now.

lol.. love that part, too.
Also where Dracula told Buffy, who he was and she was like "Nah... Really?". The expression on her face was hilarious. I loved it how the girls/women were into Dracula after meeting him.

This is one of my fave eps.

Xander and Anya where sooooo funny in this episode!!Anya "flaunting her neck cleavage" and Xanders Master...bater line were hillarious!

And!! The Count was always my fave in Sesame Street so classic line of the ep.."Von, Two, Three! Three Victims Mwahaha!" lol 😛

The only bad thing about this ep is the introduction of Dawn!! Cue downward Spiral....

^Ditto that!
This is the only episode in Buffy that chokes me up. Last second. One word: "mommy?" fade to black. That was masterful. SMG conveyed such emotion in just that one word, I always feel a little lump in mah throat on that one.

I absolutely love this episode, though I'm a sucker for all the silly "okay, we're taking a break from the intensity of it all" episodes. I heard Freddie Prince, Jr. was going to play Dracula, which would have added a whole new level of cheeky fun, but, I have to say, the actor they settled on is perfect. And I also wouldn't mind it if he bit me.

I liked this episode! it was funny and xander was especially funny
and riley saying to giles "oh no, no more chick pit for you!"
i thought having dracula on the show would be really cheesy, but i think they did it well. but i didn't like the "joyce invited dracula in because she was lonely" what was that????

I love moments, like just after she tastes dracula's blood, when buffy suddenly gets it. (also loved how giles wanted to go back for his shoe)

Re-watched this last night. So many funny moments! I thought Dracula was a LITTLE bit cheesey, but it could have been a lot worse. Love Xander as the "spider-eating-man-bitch butt monkey" and Giles in the chick pit. Love Buffy's "How do you like my darkness now?" line.
