Blurb:
Mr. Gordo is Buffy's stuffed pig. I found Colleen Hillerup's Adventures of Mr. Gordo website and the affiliated yahoo group and fell in love. They are my favorite Buffy fanfics. So, of course, I decided to write one of my own. So this is my idea, but it is written in the style of Colleen Hillerup and based on her interpretation of Mr. Gordo. If you haven't read these stories, I highly recommend them. They are just too cute.

This is the second installment of a story that takes place two days after the Angel series finale. For the first installment, see Pinocchio. It's my cute little Gordo answer to the question of who survived the final battle. It's not great but, hey, it's fanfic. 🙂 Enjoy!

Just Keep Cuddling!
by Palabra

Yellow and Girl stayed on the couch for a long time. I watched from my place on top of the TV. Yellow went to sleep and then woke up again lots of times. He needed cuddles real bad, but Girl didn't make me fly to Yellow. Instead, she did the cuddling. And she was just as good as any SA.

Some girls would have minded the big one stuffing, but not my Girl. It got all over her hands and stained her clothes, but she didn't care. What mattered was the cuddle. She just sat there calmly and cuddled Yellow's hand, whispering to him little comforting SA things like "it'll be all right." Sometimes, she made jokes or told stories. They made Yellow try to smile. They made him try to talk. They made him stay with us.

For awhile, that was good. Then, Yellow stopped smiling and talking back.

I was worried and so was Girl. Her eyes flew to mine. They met my buttons. They threatened to leak. Girl was panicking.

"It's okay, Girl! Just keep cuddling!" I yelled.

Cuddling doesn't always help, but sometimes it's all you can do.

Girl didn't hear me, though. Right at that moment, Brown Fur came in. She carried her back bag and stomped and groaned just like she did every day. Brown Fur was noisy! Girl never could hear me over Brown Fur.

With her eyes on the floor, she grumbled something that sounded like the funny way that people talked in the new world. Then she looked up. She saw Yellow. She stopped making grumbly noises right away. She did make a sharp sound in the back of her throat, though. It was the one that big ones make right before they let the tears fall. Brown Fur didn't look to me for comfort and cuddles, like Girl did. She looked to my girl.

"Spike?" she asked, her eye buttons growing wider.

At that, Yellow woke up a little. He didn't open his eyes, but he did rasp out, "Hi, (rasp) Niblet (wheeze, cough). Didn't fancy I'd (cough, cough) see you again."

Brown Fur's eye buttons flew to Girl.

"How?"

Girl came over and cuddled me in her hands "“ not in a hug, like when she was little, but just a touch. It was enough. I've got oodles of cuddles in just one little plush hoof. Then, she looked back at Brown Fur.

"I'm not real clear on the details," she said, stiffening up and becoming all cold and distant, like when the Watch-her used to call her Gen-er-all Buffy. "A-pocket-lypse of some sort. I guess we missed one. Angel's dead "“ like for real dead. Spike's human. The world must have wobbled on its axis or something. We'll get the books. Get some Scoobies. We'll handle it."

Brown fur sat in the empty chair and stared at her like she'd just seen an SA move. But I was still. I promise!

"Human? God, Buffy, he's hurt."

Gen-er-all Buffy swallowed.

"I know. Will and Giles and Sand-her are on their way. They'll know what to do."

"Yeah, and so will like, doctors. Did you even call an ambulance?" Brown Fur asked, rolling her eye buttons upward and crossing her arms in front of her.

This time, my girl's eyes buttons were the ones to grow round. Scary Gen-er-all Buffy went away, then, and Girl came back. She seemed to shrink, kind of like when you come out of the dryer all flat and shaped funny, and returned to the couch so she could go back to cuddling.

"Oops. Didn't think of that," she admitted. "You know, this is all mystical-ley and stuff."

Brown Fur sighed loudly, almost like one of Yellow's wheezes, and then stomped over to the fone. She picked it up and hit some little buttons, and then she talked into it for a long time. Her voice was all high and panicky, a not-good voice. She talked in the funny new way, but sometimes in the way I understood, too.

While Brown Fur was talking into the fone, Red Fur made the door ding.

"Come in!" Girl yelled.

Red Fur did. The door was locked, but Red Fur has magics. No one ever opened the door for Red Fur.

"Whoa. So not what I expected," she said as soon as she saw Yellow. "Is he, like, the First? Or a demon. Or"¦ Oh My God, Buffy! He's real!"

Red fur gave Girl a smile that could make the sun rise. She would have made a good SA.

Girl looked up at her. She took out her serious voice again.

"He's human. And he's dying," she said, her voice sounding high pitched and panicky on that last word. It was a scary word. That's the word the big ones use whenever the other big ones go away. That's the word they use when they need cuddles most, no matter how big they get.

But Girl didn't have time for cuddles.

"You got any whammy you can use to slow this down until the ambulance gets here?" she asked in her best calm, take-charge voice even though her eye buttons were red and frantic.

"Is he breathing, guys? Is he still breathing? They wanna know if he's still breathing!" Brown Fur asks from her place by the door.

Red reached her hands out over Yellow and felt around in the air. I knew this one. Red has magics, so she can see something called and or-a. I don't know what an or-a is, but it lets Red know what other big ones are thinking or feeling. Once, back in the other world, Red Fur looked at me with her head crooked and told me I had an or-a.

"It's okay, Dawnie. Tell them he's still breathing," Red said.

Brown Fur talked into the fone again.

Then, Red brought out the mo-jo. I don't like it when she does that. Scary white light pours out of her. It even turns her hair white, so she's not really Red anymore. She talked in a big, booming voice and said words I'd never heard before. The whole world with walls shook. I shook right off my TV! Some of the pick-her frames and glasses fell, too. And then the light flashed away and Red's hair went back to normal.

"It's a stasis spell," Red explained as she sank, all weak and stuffingless, into a nearby chair. "Should keep him exactly like that until help arrives."

Girl looked at Red with grateful eyes. She didn't have to say "thank you." Even I could read that much from her or-a, and I can't even see or-as, especially not then. I could barely see anything. I was on the floor and busy being smushed under a pick-her frame.

"Girl! Help!" I said, but Girl's attention was on Red.

"Hey, no big, Bufster. S'what I do," Red said.

"Help!"

I kept yelling for help until Brown Fur, who was still talking into the fone, came over and picked me up. She wasn't so big, even if she was tall. She cuddled me like a little one cuddles, which is good, because we both needed it.

Some Big Ones in funny uniforms came in next. They had a funny table called a stretch-her and lots of machines, which they hooked up to Yellow. They asked a lot of questions. Brown Fur did her best to answer, I could tell, but she didn't know all the words.

"It's okay, Brown Fur! It's not your fault they talk so funny in this world!"

I missed my old world.

My Girl hung back. She stood in a corner with Red and wrung her hands so hard I heard them go "crack!"

Watch-her and Broken One made the door ding next. Brown Fur let them in just as the paramedics were taking Spike out on a stretcher.

Watch-her took the fake eye buttons off his real ones and cleaned them. He always did that.

"Oh dear," he said, clearly surprised. He didn't look like he needed cuddles, though. He looked like he needed books. Or the com-pute-her. That's where the big ones get their answers when Watch-her doesn't have them ready before hand.

Broken-One folded his arms across his chest and went, "Huh."

"Anybody care to enlighten me?" he asked. "I thought Fang Boy was dead."

I'm an SA. I know things. Big Ones aren't always nice when they say nice things. Or just not bad things. Broken One wasn't nice. He was mad. He was mad that Yellow came back. He wanted his big one back, the one with the color-changing fur. She'd gone away the same day as Yellow, but only Yellow was back. It wasn't fair. I didn't think it was fair, either, but I didn't know what to do. Cuddles don't make big ones come back after an a-pocket-lypse.

Girl glared at Broken One. She must have known what the sound in his voice meant, too, because she stormed past him, following the funny talky people and the stretch-her and Yellow.

"I'm riding in the ambulance with him. We can figure this out later."

"What should we tell the Immortal?" Xander called after her.

When he said "In-moat-hell," I saw hsneer. A sneer is like a smile, but mean.

But girl was long gone, and I couldn't be mad at him, even if he was being mean. He missed the changing fur one. She was his girl. I had missed my Girl for a long time once. I was mean, too. It's just that nobody noticed because nobody cuddled me anymore. I guessed that Broken One was just missing his cuddles. That makes everybody cranky!

Broken one looked around.

"Christ," he said. "He's back."

"Indeed."

I love these...must be getting all soppy in my dotage...keep the cuddles coming hon 🙂

I loved this. This and the previous one. I love the Mr Gordo POV and how you've wrote him. Especially the Gordo-Language. Yellow-One got my chuckling the most. Hehe. Nice interpretation and likin' the Spuffy sweetness

<< Holds hand over Palabra's head and speaks in a deep, James Earl Jones-esque voice......>>

The Force is strong in this one.

Really enjoying these, young lady. Well done. :: tu ::

i love this one! it is so sad, and so well written, and had all these funny bits too that made me stop and laugh, like 'the one with color-changing fur' 😛! is this story even really over? will we never know what happens to spike? ??? like others before me have requested, i implore you to write more gordo-fics! ...please? 🙂

EDIT: oh, and fyi, the link to 'pinocchio' (at least for me) isnt working.

Thanks again!

Yes, there will be more. 🙂 I love, love, love writing Gordo fics! I'm just trying to figure out a good resolution to this Spike issue -- one that Gordo will be able to see and explain in a way that we can understand and also one that is a little happier.
