Alright, I just got done reading the Fray Graphic Novel and a few questions popped to mind. I just want to say for those that don't know, but this was written by Joss himself and I'm sure fits right into the Buffy/Angel series. It's not like the other novels that bend continuity, at least I don't think it is due to the fact that the scythe also appears in Fray.

But the comic does leave a few questions. First of all being, what happened to the spell Willow cast in chosen? In Fray Mel is the only slayer, at least the first to be called in many years, meaning there is no other and that the proccess went back to one slayer. Those of you who read teh comic probably know that it wasn't that simple for Mel seeing that she only got the super strength of a slayer and really isn't exactly a full fledged one. But still, what are the speculations about the spell? did it just wear off after all of the slayers in this generation were called? This is a question that either needs another joss written comic or another TV series or movie to answer.

Second question, who exactly was the slayer that banished all the evil in the world? It's safe to say that she was engulfed into that portal as well. Was it Buffy or Faith or Kennedy? Or was it a different slayer completely? I mean I know that's the whole fun of the series that it leaves many more questions to be answered. But with no more ME shows on the air anytime soon, it's tough to say that those questions will be answered. Any other thoughts on Fray?

I've read the comics except the last 2, so I think I can be of some help lol.

I don't know why there would only be one Slayer. Melaka fights with the Scythe, so we know that that's still entact. I remember reading something in Caritas about someone making a fan film about Willow dying, which reversed the spell she did to make the Slayers into Slayers. I hope that would not be the case. Maybe, in the year 2500 (i think that's the year) Slayers were given free will (not to be a Slayer, but actually to slay the vampires) and a lot of them said no. Meleka says "stake through the heart ----- good luck finding a piece of real wood." maybe that means that there was no way to clearly kill the vampires that they knew of without any wood.

URKNON (or whatever his name is) says "The line continued--There were girls with the power, but htey were never called, never trained. Which is why you have no memories of your heritage. THe council of waterchers fell to ruin, held together only by fanatics and fools. those who believed the demons would return.

Meleka enters a bar, holding The Scythe, she says, "I have something to say. There's been a murder. There's been a murder and there's gonna be more. Everyone of you is in danger." one of the men in the bar asks "Danger from what?" and Meleka answers "Lurks." another man in the bar says "Lurks? They're a joke! They're sewer rats!" So, maybe in the future the vampires have gone down underground in fear of Slayers or maybe Slayers have wiped out so many of them. Or maybe even a vampire isn't feared anymore in the future because of the technological weapons they have.

I don't know who the Slayer is who banished all demons. I'd like to think it was Buffy or Faith or Vi or even Kennedy, but I don't think we'd ever know. I'm looking at the picture now and there is no clue to who the woman could be.

Well, the figure is wearing a skirt, so it couldn't possibly be Faith and I would like to think that Buffy would get a happier ending than that. But I guess it's something we won't find out until possibly a second Fray miniseries or a Buffy/Angel movie

I don't see why a lack of wood would be a major hindarance in killing vamps. There's still decapitation, sunligiht and fire.

I also have the Graphic Novel, and I have some ides, and much speculation. Here are a few ideas..
Maybe another spell undo's Willow's spell, or maybe the spell only lasts till all of those slayers are gone, like a new slayer won't be called until all of them (as in the potentials) are dead. There are endless possibilities for this problem to be solved, I hope Joss does another comic or something to explain it, but I also love speculating..
As for the slayer who ended the magick and pure evil in the world, I have a feeling it is Buffy. I know the pictures aren't clear, that is done on purpose of course, but there are clues.. For example the skirt, hello that's such a Buffy thing, who else slays in a skirt? Especially an apocalyptic battle. Plus they show her hand, with Valley girl long red nails, another Buffy trademark. Also she has the scythe. Though it could very well have been passed on to another.. Ok and, " A slayer, possibly with mystical allies" that sounds like Buffy, Willow, and the scoobs. One Slayers are knows to have been loners, trained to be loners, Buffy was an exception, and what other slayer has allies? Mystical ones? But like I said before this is speculation, but with Joss focusing on Buffy for the greater part of the Buffyverse, I would imagine Buffy would be the one. Also I agree with Watcher Wes, there are plenty of ways to kill a vamp, lack of would shouldn't be a problem.
And I want to point out that someone must rebuild the Watcher Council, otherwise there would be nothing to "fall to ruin" after that big battle.. One thing does mess up my Whole Buffy theory though, they never mentioned several slayers, so maybe it is much later after the spell is broken and only one slayer is called at a time, that the final battle happens, cause you'd think if it was Buffy she'd have all her Slayer Jr's helping out. Then again, Willow and the slayerettes may be considered "the mystical allies" because they are not the ONE slayer, it seemed Joss always made it clear Buffy was the one true slayer.
Anyways it would be great if Joss made a movie to clear up all the lose ends, and to square away the Buffyverse, but even if he does I don't see him spilling all, that Joss he likes to keep us guessing..

Joss has said that he would like to do more Fray comics, so perhaps we'll see the answers in them. Personally, I was pretty sure that the demon-banishing Slayer was meant to be Buffy (mainly because of the "mystical allies" thing) and that the Slayer line was obviously still there but had just been forgotten 'cos of said demon-banishing removing the need for the Slayer. It still begs the questions why the Lurks (vamps) weren't banished (vamps are demons, right?) or, if they were, how did they come back?

Whe Willow did the spell to activate the potential slayers it was only for the potential slayers that were alive and that was about 100 so no slayer was ever really called for 60 years.

After/during this period of time their probably was an attack, a slayer with magical friends forced out basically all of the demons on earth ad the Watchers council was probably destroyed during this time and the people who helped in the battle probably soon died off and noone rebuilt the council. So slayers were activated but never really called for battle and were never trained since their is no watchers council their is no watcher to train them.

Come to 2500 or whenever Melaka is called to be the slayer, their is an actual big evil that needs to be destroyed and the world actually needs saving.

And since Melaka is a twin and they are the same embyro except split half of the slayer package was passed on to her brother and he had all of the dreams and visions.

And dont forget that their is always the possiability that their was another slayer after Buffy who had mystical allies.

That makes sense. If the slayer banished all the demons on earth, there'd be no need for a watchers council. Maybe...the reason vampires didn't go was because they are "half-breeds" and the other demons were full demon or pure demon. I dunno. lol.

Well, even with magical intervention, currently there's only one true Slayer: Faith. Only when she dies will the line continue. After 200 years, pretty much any of the potentials affected by Willow's spell would've died by then.

Someone posted that they could resolve how all the demons were banished in any future Buffy/Angel projects, and I can't help but agree.

Maybe if Buffy did 'it' she made a vampires excluded, couldn't go killing Angel and Spike could she. Maybe not.

Anyway I like the sound of Fray, anyone know of any places to get it in the UK?

That's a very good point. I never thought of that.

Here's another one. Doesn't Urkon give Melaka the scythe? I can't remember, does it say where he got it? How did the demons get it? Did Buffy lose it?

Here's a larger problem...

Hasn't Joss signed on to do X Men the comic? Does that mean Fray 2 goes to the back burner?

Ash I can help you with an internet solution if that interests you, but you'll have to PM me.

Urkon gives her the scythe, but he never says where he gets it from. That is another one of the many unanswered questions along with how the vampires returned. Even Harth (Mel's twin) said he didn't know how the evil returned. Damn this story should be made into a movie.

Well Fray will probably have to wait a year or 2 after Joss starts writing some X-Men comics, but we will probably see more Fray comics in the future. And The Sytche was probably in the watchers council building and after all of the demons were banished they probably hung it up on a wall and it stayed it their for a few centuries

Good point there about Angel and Spike, Ash.

I got the Fray comics on e-bay but the graphic novel version seems to be now available in the UK.
I found it quite easily on Amazon UK (even though I can't get a link to the page to post properly🙁) or try your local comics or sci-fi bookshop. Some of the larger bookshop chains often have decent stocks of graphic novels as well.
