Fox Launch Firefly website

Firefly, the upcoming show from the creator of Buffy, Joss Whedon has launched it's official webpage.

Sections about the show, spoilers and even a quaint little spot called "joss speaks." Nice design, as expected really.
 
Good site. The characters seem interesting and the storyline is okay. Although, I am a Dark Angel fan, and I'm still not sure if I'm going to watch it. I'm not bashing out Firefly, I'm just not in full support of Fox at the moment. But otherwise, it looks like a good show that I'd probably end up watching. 🙂

i just pray to jebus that one of the non-retarded television networks of australia buys the rights to Firefly so that i can actually see it.
 
It looks promising!

I'm looking forward to this show....Joss is amazing and I love Sci Fi stuff....The pictures kind of remind me of Earth 2 or something...
Not sure why exactly.🙂
 
gina torres was awesome in cleopatra 2525 and alias so i look forward to this. and jewel straite's a good actress to so i look forward to that was well...i'm into scifi and this looks like something to watch...

Joss Whedon reshoots the pilot for ''Firefly.'' Fox asked the ''Buffy'' creator to create a new, faster-paced episode for the takeoff of his cowboys-in-space series by Lynette Rice

Joss Whedon's new series ''Firefly'' will take flight this fall on Fox, though the sci-fi drama won't get exactly the start he had in mind. At the network's behest, the creator of ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' made a two-hour, $8.7 million pilot to kick off the retro-futuristic tale, about renegade space cowboys. What Whedon delivered was a drama heavy on character development and light on action -- so light, in fact, that Fox asked him to bring in the booster rockets and quicken the show's pace. More importantly, Whedon was told to shoot a new, one-hour first episode. ''Fox came out of the box saying we're looking for flash, we're looking for comfort. Though I'm very much in love with what we did, there wasn't a lot of either there,'' admits Whedon. (Fox promises to air the original, two-hour pilot later in the season.) Despite the early confusion, Whedon insists fans will find ''Firefly'' easy to follow. ''I make every episode early on like a pilot, so everybody who hasn't seen the first one'' won't be confused, says Whedon. ''The first six episodes are very stand-alone, very expository, and hopefully not boring.'' When it comes to Whedon, that's never a worry.

I like the sound of this show. Just from looking at the characters personalitys i think i'm going to like River.
 
Nice article from EW. The compliment to Joss was very sweet.🙂 So will the pilot episode still be a two-hour show or just a one-hour ep?

The pilot will stay it's two hour production, it was only created solely for the networks viewing and to decide whether to give Joss the go ahead or not. The one hour episode will be a remake of that pilot. But yeah, they've said he should start the first episode, so i'm guessing he did himself justice... 8.7 million dollars justice that is. 🙂
 
It looks like it could be interesting.I never really watched Dark Angel so i have really nothing against this show......Whats the pilot?(lol im not the brightest person)
 
I was just looking at some Firefly webpages the other day and I have to say that the show looks interesting. Even though I'm not really a "spaceship show" kinda gal I think that the premise looks interesting and the characters look good. And if it's a Whedon show so I have to watch it 😀

It's the pre-production episode of a show to see whether "big cheese" executives want to air it on their network or not. It's primarily based on the first episode and almost every show needs one before beginning it's production phase, even Buffy. 😉

I'm not a huge spaceship show fan myself but the show looks interesting so I'll give it a try when it starts showing on tv. Hopefully I'll remember its on though. lol I'm always forgetting about that kind of thing.

Well if it isn't, then I'm sure a whole legion of Joss supporters will be dissapointed in the UK.

We now know the Fox Network has asked Joss Whedon to reshoot large portions of the premiere episode of his new starship show, FIREFLY.

What's new today is what Joss Whedon had to say to us about the subject. When we caught up with him on the subject, which has been the underground buzz over the last few weeks in genre production circles, Whedon told us, "It was really a question of not shifting the paradigm too much. Fox wanted a little more action and a little less drama. I had told them from the start it was going to be a drama and a western and have a kind of slowness to it. They went "˜No, no, no.' when they saw it. They said, "˜Well, we need it to be faster, funnier, and flipper." It wasn't a question of changing character or what it was about or the world - so it wasn't anything that really bothered me. It was a question of adjusting. If they said recast anybody, I wouldn't have done it. It is such a great ensemble."
