Hi Guys :xyxwave:

I have just read the alternative Chosen script and frankly I am glad that Joss didn't use that script, cos to me that was like fanfic.

Also not getting the part about Dawn being a slayer (Thats just silly and now I know why there were all those spoilers about her being the next slayer after Buffy ended)

I will post the link for the script for the people who haven't seen it.

Let me know your views 🙂

Ciao

I wish I had saved the link to the Joss interview where he laughed this fanfic alternative script off, but I didn't know people would still be taking it seriously years later.

As I recall he said something like, the only Chosen script he knew anything about was the one he wrote.

I blame Buffy.Nu for this thing still being taken seriously. The script is just another in the long line of hoaxes that have appeared on Buffy.Nu presented as fact, Spike as male slayer, NBC buying Angel, stuff like that.

I lost the link to the Joss interview that proves this is a hoax though, so I think the best evidence this thing is nonsense is the script itself. It seems to be a pirated transcript with fanfic scenes pasted in it. Here is some of the stuff that happens.

* Dawn flashes back to the words of phantom Joyce in CDWP as if they have significance, but both Jayne Espenson, and Joss Whedon revealed after Chosen that Joyce in CWDP was The First so it's words as Joyce were insignificant.

* Dawn is in the slayer line. The guy says Buffy, Faith, and Dawn all have to die before another slayer is called. If that isn't silly enough for you, Dawn (as slayer) and Spike get into a physical fight over the amulet, because Dawn wants to be the one that sacrifices herself.

* Here's an old message I copied from a message board:

another reason i'm certain its fake is joss' comments in the tvguide interview

" No, I don't think Dawn was meant to be a Slayer ? both mythologically and emotionally. Dawn plays a different part than that. I don't think we necessarily got to explore all the aspects of Dawn's character that I would have liked to have, because she kind of got swept up in the larger story. But being a Slayer was never one of them. "
he says never, so i'm pretty sure he wouldn't have written it that way and then adjusted it.

* Buffy fights a corporeal First

* The First appears as Kendra

* Anya lives. Xander dies. Anya gets Xander and Andrew's lines from that point. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't we know Anya was going to die before that script came out. Didn't Emma caulfield say she wasn't coming back about the time of early to mid Season 7?

* Spike's hand pushes out from the rubble a la Carrie at the end. Looking back now we know this script had to be bogus, because we now know Joss was considering the Spike as ghost idea for a Faith spin-off.

Also the guy spells rubble as "rubbel"

* Here's something I copied from a message board:

This isn't even written in proper script form. And if it was just copied from an actual script they would have the proper blocking and set directions in it..

* Here's the history of this fanfic script:

first of all a big thanks to the guys over at the Buffy Cross And Stake board for this and especially to a person with the username DrunkenSpike for telling us he/she got hold of this script. I'll post it in parts so to possibly make it a bit more tidy as it's quite large

* The actual transcript for Chosen was available on the internet, at least about the time of Dirty Girls, so the guy had lots of time to do the deed as the fanfic alternative script appeared well after that.

* You can have a look at the real original script here if you want:

Well, that sucks. What was the point of making it seem like she was the real Joyce for so long if she was going to turn out to be the First? And what was with the demon trying to strangle her in CWDP? Just another plot hole of Season 7.

I know what you mean man. I hated that. When it was just Espenson who said it an interview, I argued she could have been joking. Then Joss started to say the same thing and you couldn't deny it. I moved CDWP down the list from my 7th favourite episode to 32nd.

As far as that other demony looking thing goes. I hope they never tell us what that really was. I don't want another disappointment. It's the thing that makes that scene remain a little interesting.

The first might have orchestrated the deamony thing, to make its arrival to Dawn seem realistic. One question though: How could the first be in two places at once? We know for a fact it was talking to Willow the whole time, so how was it talking to Dawn too?
