Apparently you can read Astonishing XMen #1 and other Marvel books at the Marvel site if you want. You can check it out here:

You seem to need to allow Active X though, so I didn't bother myself.

As a huge comic fan, I can assure you, Joss Whedon's X-Men is awesome and a half. I encourage everyone on these forums to read the online version and then pick up issues 1-5 in print.
