Like Kean, I think that there is one person with whom you can share and experience everything that love has to offer. The one person that no matter what, will always have your heart. And it doesn't mean that you can't love someone else for whatever reason that may happen but I do believe that no other love will ever be as great as that 'one'.
And you might have been with, and loved, twenty people but don't meet that 'one' until your seventy-five or if you're incredibly unlucky you never meet them. Some people are lucky enough for that one love to be their first.
But Shakespeare says it better than me:
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
But what do I know, eh? I'm young and a romantic and I couldn't possibly know 😉 But Shakespeare's the don so that's enough for me. And being a romantic beats being a cynic for me 🙂
