The artwork for the Twilight world was beautiful. It didn't make sense to me that Angel not only knows all about Twilight, but is completely on board with it. Since when is Angel so selfish? (OK, since he got Buffy back, I guess.) Fortunately, Buffy is an independent thinker.
And Spike finally returns. Apparently, whoever inked him didn't realize that the black nail polish, rings, and red shirt disappeared when he got his soul. They corrected that in the next issue.
Summing up, I thought this was a good arc, with a good balance of battle scenes and conversational moments. For all that Xander is dating Dawn, there seemed to be a lot more of him and Buffy together, and comparatively little of Willow.
Is this "ascension" of Buffy & Angel related to the Mayor's Ascension?
I like that Angel followed Buffy back, but Willow's pretentiousness is suffocating. Who is she to say anything about what Angel "has coming" to him? Please.
Responding to the above (eight years later!), I think the idea may be similar to what the Mayor intended with his Ascension, but obviously the scope is much larger. We lack the vocabulary for Twilight-level cataclysms!
And perhaps Willow has no place to talk, but they've all only heard about Angel-as-Twilight from Giles, without even getting the inadequate explanation he gave Buffy, so I can see Willow still being mad. Still, it's a line that was maybe better suited to Xander, who never worries about being too judgmental.
