Are you new to BB and reading the newsletter for the very first time? If you are, its good to have you! This here newsletter is here to keep all of you informed about what's going on at BB with the board itself, as well as helping you get to know some of your new board mates!

If you enjoyed the read, which we know you will, then please pop on over to our Newsletter Feedback thread and tell us what you thought and see the Buffy Boards News Archive for all the past issues if you'd like to have a catch up!

New Members

On behalf of all our staff and members, we would like to extend another huge "˜Welcome!' to all those who have joined our community since our last issue. It's really great to have you and we're hope you're getting comfy settling in!

For those of you who may still be feeling a little overwhelmed, there a few things that can help you out. First, be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) which provides you with lots of information about our rules, as well as giving you a helping hand if you run into any problems.

After browsing through that, there are a few other useful stops you may wish to check out:

*Bad Eggs: We all need a little help from time to time, so who best to help you than your very own personal guide to BB? Get yourself adopted by an existing member and they will show you the ropes, answer any questions and generally take care of you as you settle in. Pop into the forum Bad Eggs and start a thread asking for someone to adopt you and someone will snap you up!

*The Sorting Tome: Pay a visit to the great and mysterious Sorting Tome and get sorted into one of our Dormitories! Once the Tome has posted of your fate, you will find yourself given access to a new part of the forum for you and your fellow dorm mates. It's a great way to meet members and get to know them in a smaller, cosier part of the board.

*Angel Investigations: If you still find yourself with unanswered questions after reading through the FAQ, then this is your next stop. Have a browse through the forum and see if other people have already asked your question and find your answer and if you still need to know something then start a thread in Angel Investigations and we will answer it ASAP.
Please also remember that we have a Confidential Member Concerns Area that you can post in if you would like to keep your enquiry private. Only you and the Board Staff will be able to view it.

Meet the Newbie: Introducing one of our latest Potentials

This is an interview with one of our potentials, you may or may not have seen this Buffy fan posting around the boards already. If you have or haven't I'm sure you'll be glad to be further introduced to the Spuffy fan Tyger tyger who has kindly agreed to answer a few questions for us, so we shall pass you over:

Tyger tyger said:
1.Hey there Tyger Tyger! How did you find BB? And what were your first thoughts about it?

No, cool story just google search after I finished season 8. I read for a bit before breaking down and registering with an emphatic, "I've got a theory about that!" It is pretty obvious right off the bat BB's are definitely having a good time rather they followed the show or are new to the comics. It is a great vehicle for bringing together Buffy fans all over the world.

2. Where can you usually be found hanging out? (e.g which forum/s do you frequent most?)

I'm a spoiler addict for sure so I'm always checking the season 9 forum. But I can be found on The Back Steps or in The Bronze from time to time.

3. Do you have a favourite character from the Buffyverse?

That's a hard question when there are so many good ones! I guess the top three would be the Buffster, Willow, and Spike.

4. Have you watched both Angel and Buffy and if you have which do you prefer?

Both, my Wednesday nights were spoken for from grade school to the beginning of high school. I have to go with BtVS because it started it all.

5. Speaking of...If you could change one thing from any episode of BtVS what it would be?

I'm sure I'm not the first who could do without the end of seeing red it always gets skipped on my re-watch. They handle it well but I'd rather they hadn't gone there.

6. So aside from television watching, what's an average day like in the life of Tyger Tyger?

After the ritualistic beating of the snooze button I usually make my way to school. I can be found in the Philosophy department at the University of Oklahoma where I bide my time until I can go home to my boyfriend Derek and our dog Conan O'brien. Both of which take my fandom with aplomb (and in truth like it as much as I do).

Thank you very much for a fabulous interview!

BB Memories from the Members:

10 tidbits from the Buffy Boards old newsletters
Let's journey back for a little bit and see what went on at BB a little while ago:

1. A quote from white avenger
Actually, my least favorite character in the entirety of the Buffy series is Warren. He was cruel, bullying, and just a plain EVIL HUMAN BEING. The vampires, demons, cyborgs, and other assorted baddies on the show weren't really evil as much as they were just true to their nature and saw humans as prey. I never really felt any animosity toward any of them, they were just members of the opposing army. Warren was, as far as I can remember, the only really evil human ever depicted on the show.

2. Poetry from the 2nd newsletters
Submitted by: ILLYRIAN

As with the time of old now gone, the present time passed,
Those who remained, in the Stones of the Stone-Circles
circles of a forgotten past, within the Stones they'd wait.

The immortals would search the land, but if the Goddess called,
The hunters would respond and rise from the circles of stone,
The call to protect the people, protect the land, protect the all.

If the need arose, they would battle the demons on the land,
If required they would go and fight demons who lived in the air,
They would go into hell, and fight the demons there, and they did.

Those that were held within the stones, had risen and stood tall,
They had come and protected the land, the air, and the all,
They fought with the devil, where-ever their Goddess did call.

Those forces of evil, they had sought to control this world,
But the demon hunters, they had faced her, fighting her fold,
Even now as immortals they were, new hunters had been called.

To end the evil's essence, their new friends had been found,
And helpful Greek Mythology had brought hope to the sound,
A new beginning gave life, and willingly, it healed the ground.

6. Quote of the Month
Posted by Chase Summers in the "Did you find Cordelia to be kind of an empowering character?" thread:
"Cordy was strong, confident, and beautiful. She never let a setback keep her down for long. She always reinvented herself as needed, but maintained her core identity. At first glance she was selfish, but it was really her being practical. Like when she wanted Angel to charge people for saving them - sure certain people needed certain designer things, but at the end of the day it was about running a business and paying rent in order to continue helping people in this way. I don't think Cordy spoke her thoughts without any regard to people's feelings, always. Many times it was about what they needed to hear. The best thing about Cordy is that she knew her worth and she knew what her strengths were and she played to them. If someone disagreed with her, it was no big because any negative comment about Cordelia was irrelevant to her because she knew her worth. Best of all - even though she was used by something evil, died, and never really got to be with her true love (ANGEL) she left this world being needed and loved and missed.
Cordy was kinda dead on when she said in BtVS Season 2: "Oh Buffy, it's like we're sisters, with really different hair!""|

7. This month, the Moderators asked our long-time member Mesektet Ra for some Q&A:
Mesektet Ra said:
What is your fondest memory of BB?
Honestly, all the awesome times in the IRC. Meeting friends and laughing and having a good time are the things I remember the most.
If you could rule BB for a day what would you do? MUWAHAHAHAHAHA! THE POWER! Um...I'd prolly make everyone my minion for the day. That just sounds like fun. :-D
What's your earliest memory of BB?
Oh, god. That feels like forever ago. I mostly remember lurking...I was a big lurker back in the day before I finally got the balls to talk.
Who do you admire?
If we're talking BB wise, I'd have to say Lyri, VG, and Moz. Lyri because she seems to have this neverending patience with everyone that I know I'd never be able to cultivate. VG because he's just a pimp, and who doesn't wanna be a pimp like VG? Moz because he sets high standards for himself and stops at nothing to reach them. He's very driven and doesn't hesitate to tell anyone what he thinks, and that's a quality I admire in anyone.
In real life, I admire my friends for various reasons. Nina is strong and confident, Kris is loud and insane and makes no excuses for it, etc.
What is your favourite thing to put on your toast?
The strawberry jelly at Denny's. I think they put crack in it. The grape stuff is just gross.

9.The Dorms got a facelift! With a fresh start around the boards, the dorm Coat of Arms and layouts have been revamped. Just in case you haven't caught the new COA's, here they are:

If you got the chance to work on any past Whedon-project (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse) what character would you have wanted to play?

If you have an answer send it to me before the end of the month, :)

Quote of the Month
There must be hundreds upon thousands of posts made every month (maybe even every day) here on BB discussing anything you could care to imagine, and more! Each month, some posts jump out amongst the others, for being particularly well written or thought provoking, and here are our picks from the last couple of months:

Skytteflickan88 in "Drusilla passing out" https://www.buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?p=1031608#post1031608
I've discussed it before with fans, and it's a clear stupid continuity error.

It's one of the basics; vampires don't need air becasue they're dead. It's one of the main rules of vampyrism, inside and outside of the Buffyverse.

I can accept that writers sometime's chooses to break continuity for the story, but this is something anyone could notice right away and get distracted. It just takes away from the scene and ruins the mood.

Jules in "10 years of fandom"
10 years ago I was a huge fan of Buffy, I was watching the show but I wasn't yet a member of this board. I joined a year later.

10 years from now I hope to still be a member and I hope to still be interested in Buffy. I've just re-watched the show (I'm up to the last few episode of season 7) and can see why I love it so much. If I'm anything like my mum, I'll definitely still be interested, she still watches the shows she watched when she was younger.
