I really liked this episode. @Athena I agree with your continued praise of Glory. She is truly evil at its finest. Some people just can't appreciate skanky badasses.

"Oh my, I need to suck some brains so that I can have the mental capacity of a lazy 15 year old Valley girl who thinks about nothing but shoes and dresses while I sit around and wait for the Key to drop into my lap, instead of - say - DOING something about it." - sure guys, that's a 'big bad' who deserves top three billing :p And I'm the mad one... pffft. Go dissect a kid or something, Glory!

So wiping out the monks , chasing the key round the world , slaughtering hundreds of the Knights of Byzantium , sending the leyoch to kill Buffy , raising a massive snake seer, and torturing and sucking the brains out of half of Sunnydale wasn't proactive enough for you Taake ? :D

All hail the dread Glorificus !! :D

Nope, we didn't see a lot of that and also "chasing the key around the world" ... to end up sitting in a big house waiting around for 22 episodes. Unimpressive! If you're a God, you should be able to do more than the average vampire.

She's only in 12 episodes of season 5, and she doesn't do a lot of sitting around actually. She beats up Buffy in No Place Like Home and Shadow, also creating a snake monster that can identify the key. By Checkpoint she figures out Buffy is connected to the key and comes face to face with it. She does torture Spike in Intervention, though I know you said that's nothing. And in just her ninth episode, she actually finds out who the key is. She then chases them across the countryside despite fighting to not turn into Ben, and she captures Dawn in just her tenth episode.
Just to compare: It took The Mayor nine episodes to capture his first scooby and cause any threat to them besides getting attacked by vampires, and if you talk about minions, the Mayor sure did have a lot of vampires/ Faith doing all of his dirty work.

For me the weakness of Glory ....is Ben . I think they intended to portray a far more ambivalent tension between the characters , but he didn't have the acting chops to pull it off .I have absolutely no sympathy for Ben . He summons the Queller : his life was forfeit long before 'The Weight of the World' .

I think Clare Kramer is astounding as Glory .

Not getting too far offtopic , I listened to the podcast and enjoyed it , as usual :) . Athena still seems a bit quiet.

No spoilers but I totes agree with your analysis of the Master . I think Season 1 and season 7 tend to perform poorly in the BB polls , both undervalued in my opinion .

Absolutely the weakness is Ben.

And yes, the sound  Bane of my life! I think it's the software we use to record on Skype. I'm going to try an alternative next time. Unfortunately I can't test these things til we record, but yeah doing it live the sound was great, so it's either Skype or the recording software. We're stuck with Skype til Taake agrees to live in the UK :p, so I'm going to try some new recording software and hopefully it'll be better.... :(

Are there no programs other than Skype you could use, to be able to record each other in a different country? I can't think of any but maybe someone else knows. It's a shame the sound quality isn't as good as it could be. Obviously you should just move to Sweden and become a wino with Taake. That's a demand, not a suggestion.

It's not like I hate Clare Kramer as Glory, she does a swell job and is very funny, but as a villain she's thoroughly unthreatening to me and more comic relief. If you have to count exact numbers of episodes where she "does stuff", then that's a failure in story telling to me because she's the villain of the season and to me she's clearly a rather passive one because she doesn't make me feel anything other than that she's incompetent. If you love her, then great, good for you guys, but I'm still unimpressed by her.

I'm Taake and I approve of this post :D

Because it was dealt with properly there. "Oh you talk a lot about being evil, well, BYE!" The sequel The First is a disappointment. Much like Angelus in season 4 of Ats.

Skype has the market monopoly. There may be others out there but probably won't have a recording solution. I can investigate it though.

Is 'wino' an official Swedish job title? If so, I'm there. I know all the necessary conversational Swedish words now, like 'upp' and 'öppen'. I'm like a born Swede!:D
