Podcast Episode Suggestions

Anything within the Whedonverse can be suggested (please keep it family friendly though)

Please try to make your suggestion as descriptive as possible, rather than just something like "Review Firefly", suggest a specific theme, character or episode to review.

If we use your suggestion, we'll give you a credit on the episode and we also may contact you for some input on the topic, but it's completely up to you whether you want to be involved or not.

Dollhouse episodes vs. Firefly episodes? Like, pick both a Dollhouse and Firefly episode out of a hat, then discuss which you think is the better episode? You could do it several times in the podcast. At least until you both, undoubtedly, disagree at some point. You both seem to like both the shows (?), and now you're all caught up with Dollhouse too, 'thena.

You might need to keep Wikipedia handy for a brief synopsis of the episodes incase you forget, but remembering is all part of the fun!

Not sure how good these are but had a few ideas....

1. Wesley VS. Giles debate - Who is the better watcher/character/fountain of knowledge? You can pick certain episodes which argue the respective points.

2. Favourite ship - Can reduce it to the Buffy ones like Fuffy, Spuffy, Bangel etc...

3. Favourite season long arc. This could be series, so you can compare the Angelus one in S2 to the Mayor/Graduation one in 3 for example.

4. You could look at one-off characters who maybe should have gotten more than one appearance, like Miss Post or Ted for example? On a similar note you could look at the best ever supporting characters. If one it was Willy for example you could pick a good episode which shows him at his best.

5. How about a episode on spin-off ideas for Whedoverse characters. I've always liked the idea of Cordy as a School teacher who combines her day job with fighting the supernatural. Or how about a Topher spin-off?

6. You could a two part show debating the gender politics of each JW show. In part one you compare Buffy to Angel and part two Firefly to Dollhouse. In each case you pick one or two episodes from each show which can produce a good argument for that show being progressive in its gender roles. At the end, based on some sort of scoring system you could even try to come to some overall conclusion

7. Best Big Bad?

8. Discussion of when Science is used in the Buffyverse. Does it break the logic of the show(s)? How well do the writers deal with it? You can look at episodes such as Ted, I Was Made to Love You, Happy Anniversary etc...

Hopefully we can have a few shows that follow these similar topics, but with the sort of content you guys want us to discuss.

Willow vs. Winnifred - Who was the better geeky genius girl best friend/sidekick (Willow for Buffy/Fred for Angel) What was their interaction all about in 'Orpheus'; could they have become a power "couple"? Why did they both turn/give into evil?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer excelled in academic hours (Prophecy Girl, Helpless, Chosen, Innocence, Once More with Feeling, The Body, Hush, Restless, Earshot, Doppelgangland, Who Are You?); which are the richest and most successful at what they aim to do? OMWF as a musical. The Body with no music. Hush with no speaking, Restless with dreams or Earshot with Buffy being telepathic. Innocence with the lost virginity/lost love metaphor with Angel losing his soul. Prophecy Girl, Helpless or Chosen with Buffy changing the slayer mythology. Doppelgangland or Who Are You? for character studies on Willow and Faith (for that matter The Zeppo, Fool for Love, Darla, Harm's War and Selfless for their respective one episode character studies on Xander, Spike, Darla, Harmony and Anya to name a few I can think of).

What are your favorite metaphors used in the Buffyverse? High School is Hell (Ignored Girl Turns Invisible, Psycho Cheer/Stage Mom is a Witch, Pack of Bullies= Hyena Possessed), Sex Metaphors (Turning into a Werewolf=Puberty, Having Sex = the guy loses his soul, Lesbianism is like Magic), Magic Addiction = Drug Addiction, Bigotry against demons= bigotry in real life against other people.

Best Villains of the Buffyverse.
Why Dark Willow was such a big disappointment; how scary and effective she could have been if it was executed better, starting with the horrible veiny makeup. And why she should have clashed with Amy Madison before Buffy in the last arc of S6. I like that Xander saved the day with his love for Willow though.
