Pretty sure discussing Spike is the only thing Mr. Athena thinks we do :p
Then how about deticating a Spike episode to him ??? :p

Hehe, because for me personally, Spike already gets enough attention as it is.

Here's an idea... Buffy/Angel top Worst Episode count down! Invite submissions from the board to call in or leave a forum post explaining which episode is the worst. Maybe you do a top 5 worst, complete with audio clips of the worst of the worst lines from each.

Or If I Could Change One Thing! A single wish for Buffy/Angel and how they'd change the series. Maybe instead of Adam in Season 4 We make Riley the big bad? Or perhaps instead of Willow going all evil in Season Six someone else loses it. Discuss the fallout, what would change, etc.

Need's More Buffy!
Talk about shows strongly feel the Whedon influence, and what show best represents the Whedon legacy on TV at the moment. Dialogue, Story, Strong Female Characters... etc.

Random Guest of the Month/Week!
Each month you guys interview a Buffyboard member, where are they from, how did they first see Buffy/Angel, what's their fav character... etc.

PS. How often do you guys cast? Have you considered doing it weekly?

Thanks CharlieGunn1 :) I especially love the change one thing idea - choosing one would be so hard!

PS. How often do you guys cast? Have you considered doing it weekly?

We record mid-month-ish and release end-month. To be honest, we'd struggle to do it weekly, we both have other commitments, and with our recording sessions going on for at least three hours (because we chat either side!), and edits taking several days (because I only have a finite amount of time in the evenings in weekdays to do so) it just wouldn't be viable right now. Plus, there's a lot of weekly Buffy podcasts out there, but they're tending to lean more towards a per episode review, so they can warrant a weekly show.

But once we've built our podcast empire, who knows ;):p

What would a modern Buffy be like? So instead of the show being set in the 90s it would be set in the present. What would you like to see? How would it work? Episode ideas?

So the characters would be same but just the stories.

More suggestions:

*Faith, Angel and redemption.
*Smile Time and a "what would happen if kids TV shows were under a spell IRL" (a bit off topic).
*Fuffy and the subtext between them (I want to hear the POV of someone whose not big on Fuffy).
*Giles throughout the seasons.
*Buffy and her boyfriends.

I love this idea! I'm pretty sure most tv shows I watched as a kid had subliminal messages :D Plus it would be fun to do an episode on Smile Time in general, it is beloved by pretty much all the Angel fandom....

Something tells me that a Firefly episode is coming up, but that's not going to stop me from overloading the suggestion box :p

*All about Kennedy, with a (recorded in advance) special guest appearance from @Blaze .
*All about Johnathan- I think that he appeared in more episodes than Faith...
*Woz and Twillow- I noticed that some people ship both and it's understandable.

I guess they could do shows on characters like that who tend to divide people or who most people seem to hate, Connor and Kate being two more who fit that bill. The show can discuss the pros and cons of such characters. Their high and lows.

I second @Smile Time I want to hear about Kennedy, Oz and Tara!

I also second @Mr Trick in wanting to hear you talk about Kate. I was so sad to see her go. I always thought she would be Angel's main love interest. Cannot fathom why she is not a fan favourite. She gave the AtS some crime noir credibility.

Think you hit the nail on the head on why Kate didn't work. They tryed to make her another love interest for Angel. She just seem like a cheap Buffy stand in. Also, for someone we were meant to be rooting for she was very whining and annoying. The way the character went out was her at her best. Finally they gave a decent actress something to work with.

The thing that I liked about Kate was that she seemed more real. Angel has superpowers, he has no family and no ties to the world. Kate and Anne helped ground the show. Angel was fighting for redemption and abstract ideals. Kate and Anne's struggles were more real.

Early AtS seemed like a show that was afraid of committing. There was a constant change in style and focus. I can easily imagine a show where Kate and Anne played a larger part and Gunn did not lose contact with his old gang.

Edit: I seem to have a thing for whiny character. Whenever I ask someone why they don't like a character I like, the answer is invariably, 'They are whiny!' or 'They are too bratty!' What does that say about me? Am I just very tolerant or is there something about me that makes me sympathise with these characters?

I can see that about Kate. I just think the writing was bad. She wasn't interesting enough or likable enough. And personally I don't think Elisabeth Rohm and David had good chemistry. Anne I liked more. Its a shame they didn't feature her more.

Yes, that is interesting. I am thinking of the early scene where Angel is unnerved by the blood dripping down a recuse victims forehead. If they had went with making Kate a undercover cop who became a addict, she would be paralleling Angel as a metaphor for trying "not to use again" as I think they were originally going with.

Which fits in well with Gunn's and Anne's Los Angeles. But I can also see how this might of taken the show in a different direction potentially, where it focused a little less on redemptive prophecies and more on how to be a good man.

Some ideas? Hmm...
Season openers vs season finales. Which is best?
Character centric episodes which are the best?
The Zeppo and Doppelgangland are my favs.
Worst one-off villains? Moloch? Lol

We've talked about trying to redeem certain characters, the problem being that most of them appear frequently, and as such it takes a lot of research time as opposed to say a character who only appears once or twice, so we've not ruled it out but it would need to be prepped way in advance to talk about someone like Kennedy, Jonathan, Connor or Kate.

Like I'd love an opportunity to try to redeem Riley or Dawn, but it's a little impossible because they're in the show so much.

Don't worry if you ever wanna redeem Kennedy I have a comprehensive thesis written about it already

*The Body, it's a heavy episode that needs to be discussed.

*An episode discussing all of the season finales.

Great idea. We'll definitely need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle the episode though; I know speaking from my personal experience I get very emotional and I don't think an episode of me bawling my eyes out for 45 minutes would be entirely to listeners' audible pleasure. :p

We definitely do want to tackle these landmark episodes though. :)
