20th Anniversary of Angel: 31 Days of Angel

Day 2: What is your favourite episode title?

To Shanshu in LA. I like the play on words and how it's technically a spoiler! Honorable mention to Not Fade Away. I like the song, and there's something very evocative and unusual about the phrasing. I feel like it's a perfect match for the closing scene. It doesn't fade into black, it slams into it.

Awww we picked the same!! And I swear I didn't read your post before posting mine. Anyways, great pick!! :)
Day 1: Favourite season opener?

Judgment. I absolutely love this episode. It lays out the premise of s2 beautifully. It immediately has a cool new feel to it with Caritas and Lorne. The AI team are at their best here. And Angel sings!

Day 2; What is your favorite episode title?

I agree with Puppet, Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been has to win out for me.

Day 2 : What is your favourite episode title?

To Shanshu In L.A. It's perfect because you get the reference to the movie after having seen the episode and getting what "shanshu" means but once you realize it's so obvious.

Day 2: What is your favorite episode title?

I don't think I have one.

I like the tiles of Tim Minear's episodes a lot. They're simple but effective, and paint a good mental picture: "Sense and Sensitivity", "The Prodigal", "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been", "Benediction", "Home"...

I also really like "Dear Boy" and "Not Fade Away".

I like "Dear Boy" because of the way Darla says it to Angel. It's motherly, condescending, loving, seductive, possessive. It just fits their relationship. It's like, regardless of whether Angel is himself or Angelus or Liam, a part of him will always be her "dear boy".

And I like "Not Fade Away" because it describes how I think of Angel. As a show, it won't fade from my memory, or stop being relevant to my life. Angel the character will never fade away either. The whole point of the episode is that Angel will never lose himself and forget who he is, what he stands for. Angel ends the series even more dedicated to fighting evil than he was when he began. When I hear "Not Fade Away", I think it's empowering. It's about refusing to go down without a fight, refusing to let go of your identity or your future. To me, it's about refusing to let the darker parts of my life, and my darkest thoughts, chip away at my will to live, at my passion, at my beliefs. I refuse to fade away into nothing, to be silenced or to silence myself. And I think this is exactly what the words mean to Angel too.

Day 2 : What is your favourite episode title?
Fredless in german. Because in german the title is "Fre(u)dlos". If you read it without the u in the braketts then it's "Fredlos" wich is the german translation for "Fredless". And if you read it with the u in the braketts it's "Freudlos" wich means something like cheerless, because the german word "Freude" is happiness and "los" is like less in english. I like it because that means without Fred they're not happy. I looove Fred, I wouldn't be happy if she wasn't there.

So that's my favourite german episode title, there are too many good ones Imo in english to list them all.

That's such a cool tidbit.
To Shanshu in LA, I love the reference of the city, calling it back to City Of, the hidden clue to what the prophecy is about.

Other titles I love: City Of, Somnambulist, Sanctuary - love the tie in here to the title theme, Guise will be Guise,The Magic Bullet, A Hole in the World.

Hm, probably Are you now or have you ever been, though Waiting in the wings, A hole in the world and Guise will be Guise are contenders.

Forgot about Guise will be Guise
Day 1: Favorite season opener?
Deep Down. It does a great job setting up the season, plus Dark Wesley and one of Angel's best speeches.
Day 2: What is your favorite episode title?
Not Fade Away. It's defiant and bittersweet, just like the episode. Honorable mention to Habeas Corpses, one of my favorite puns.

Day 3: Which character had the best scene?

Darla. Her breakdown and death in Lullaby. (Also: Her vamping in the closing of The Trial. Her vamping in the flashback in Darla, which is my favorite flashback in all of the Buffyverse. And the water tank scene in Dear Boy. “God doesn’t want you...but I still do.” All among my favorite scenes.)

Day 3: Which character had the best scene?
Merl. When he is sitting at the bar and his interaction with Angel when he comes to apologize for leaving him hanging upside down.

Day 3: Which character had the best scene?

Angel. Every single scene he’s in.
I’m not biased.

Ok, I’ll pick one... two - determined puppet walk group shot (always ready to kick ass) and Holtz jumps into a portal with baby Connor scene (the feels!)

Day 3: Which character had the best scene ?

Difficult to choose which character !!! really !!!

Wesley in Shells.

I would say, it's a tie between the breakdown scene of Faith in Five By Five or Wesley in the end with Illyria in Shells "There's love, there's hope for some, there's hope that you'll find something worthy... That your life will lead you to some joy... That after everything you can still be surprised" . I choose Wesley because he's the best character and that scene is just devastating to see but it can of course change because I have to choose and it's difficult to choose between Faith, Wesley, Angel and Fred, really!!!!!

Honorable Mention to :
Angel
's speech in Epiphany. His conversation to Judy in the end of Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been or "Can't you feel the cold" moment in reprise.
Fred (Her death in AHITW or 2 moments in The Magic Bullet, the one when she says she's not a champion to Angel or the one when she says she's sorry to Angel).

Agree with all of these!
Day 3: Which character had the best scene?

I mean, that's an impossible thing to ask for 🙂 I'll go with the very first image that came to my mind when I read the question.

Day 3: Which character had the best scene?

I mean, that's an impossible thing to ask for

I know, why did I think of this question, I'm finding it really tough to decide on one scene.

Faith in the alley, beating Angel and then him just holding her, Angel and Kate sat talking and not just his speech but her "I never invited you in" Doyle's "too bad we'll never know if this is a face you could love" kiss and jump. The Fred into Illyria post Wes death scene. Angel's "pick out the one word there you shouldn't have said" to Hamilton moment

Yeah I fail at choosing one!

Day 3: Which character had the best scene?
Yeah, I'll second that this is an impossible question! I'll just list a few of the favorite scenes that come to mind (haha look at me cheating):

IWRY - Buffy and Angel "I felt your heart beat"
Dear Boy - Darla and Angel "God doesn't want you... but I still do."
The Trial - The entire scene in the hotel room from the touching moment between Darla and Angel and Angel seeing Darla being killed by Dru.
(Ok I'll stop with s2... this whole list could be season 2).
Lullaby - Darla and Angel Connor's birth.
A Hole in the World - Wesley and Fred "why can't I stay?"
Origin - Connor and Angel "You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father." FINALLYYYYYYYYYY HE GETS IT.
