30 Days of - TV Shows

We haven't had one of these since the Spuffy/Bangel ones last December, so I thought I'd kick off a new one. This time is can be any show, though obviously you can pick a Whedonverse one if you wish 🙂

Day 1 - A show that should have never been canceled?
My pick is Dollhouse since there were still so many stories left to tell in that world. Though they did round it out well once news of their cancellation came out.

My So Called Life - A show so far ahead of its time for teen drama on television. The cast were great and there was so much promise moving forward for the characters to grow. Plus it was so gutting the way they left it on that cliff hanger.

Could go with the rather obvious choices of either Firefly or Freaks & Geeks...

However, I think I'm going to go with the relatively unknown Once & Again. While it actually got 3 whole seasons. It left at the top of it's game. It had a stellar cast and crew. Still one of my all time favorite shows. Also had one of my favorite ships/LGBT couples. With quite possibly the best coming of age LGBT story lines ever put to screen. And beautifully acted by a young gifted Evan Rachel Wood. Yet the cancellation left the audience with many questions of where they (& other story lines) could've gone from there (the last few episodes 'series wrapping up in a pretty little bow' notwithstanding).

So many to choose from but I'd ultimately go with Tru Calling, I loved that show, it had such a cool concept, Eliza was great in the lead role and they cancelled it just as the series was really starting to build on its mythology and world-building. To this day, I wish they would revive the series.

Hands Veronica Mars for me, and obviously the fans and Hulu agree since we had a reboot movie and a reboot show is coming out in 2019. I just felt like there was so much more story to be told there.

I actually almost went with VM myself, but then I remembered how much I didn't like the 3rd season and how a part of me was sad that it didn't end on a high note.

That's why I felt like it deserved more. S3 was actually a pretty decent cliffhanger for a season finale, it just was NOT a good series finale. It felt like the show and the fans got the shaft on that one. I think a s4 could have redeemed it. I also don't hate s3 as much as others do. I just don't care so much for Piz or Parker- they were a waste of mine and everyone else's time lol.

Yeah, I almost went with VM as well but since it did get a continuation I'm now okay-ish about the cancellation.

It's smart, funny and so entertaining! The fact that it has a very little audience made me worried it was going to get cancelled but thankfully it managed to get revived for a 4th and last season, as the creators had planned. It's a shame that the show doesn't have more viewers but at least it won't prevent it from getting the ending it deserved.

The only two shows that come to mind are: Arrested Development, because the Neflix seasons aren't as good, and Timeless.
I'm going to say Timeless, because the show was cool, interesting, and informative! It involved time travelling and a romance I wanted to see the conclusion to....

Mom- It's a cute sitcom dealing with serious issues like alcoholism and addiction in general and how this affects the person who is addicted and the people in their lives. Of course while dealing with this serious issue they are being hilarious (ya know since it is a sitcom)

Harlots! It's funny, dark, badass, feminist, and has a great, modern soundtrack despite being about prostitutes in the 18th century!!

It was cancelled but I really wish more people had watched Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, the spinoff to OUAT. It was such a good show and so much better than its parent show ended up being.

The Fabulous Mrs Maisel. Creator of Glimore Girls Amy Palladino, engaging story, passes bechdel test,, witty dialogue, reminiscent of Aaron Sorkin if you like that sort of thing, absent giving the female characters the dumbest and most humiliating lines.
