Due to their contentious nature and the inevitable fighting that comes out of them, we have decided to no longer allow threads about Spike on the board. The Spike and Spuffy forums have also been deleted. We do this as a last ditch effort to get members to get along on the boards. We want this to be a nice place for people to visit, not a place filled with fighting. Thank you for your understanding.
 
Seriously, people, why couldn't you just get along? I know I'm not entirely exempt from this either, but BB just isn't complete without Spike! Shame.

It seems all this is my fault, even if the last fight wasn't even about Spike or Spuffy, but Faith. Sorry Spike and Spuffy fans.

If things improve on the board, is there a chance that Spike threads will be allowed again ???

I love Spike, but because of all the fighting, I don't talk about Spike too much outside of PM.

I'm sad that it has come to this 🙁

Oh that sucks. I'm not a Spuffy fan but i do like Spike. But yea the Spuffy/non Spuffy wars need to stop. People got to agree to disagree and be civil. I know it's hard.
 
Can I say I'm surprised at this ban. No, not really. But imo I think it sadly says more about this board then some of the fans who post on it.

I have to say that I find it weird how the last bit of 'infighting' had nothing to do with Spike but to do with Faiths character. We going to ban threads about her too?

Anyhoo, certain folk on here have won. I hope you're happy with this as I suspect there will be less activity on here from now on.
 
Oh and to add, (as I'm a tad confused at this and this board won't allow me to alter my above post) you've deleted the Spike/Spuffy threads, and yet I thought they were meant to be 'safe haven's for shippers and any decenting voices weren't supposed to supposed to post in them, hence no rows, so how come they're now the start of this trouble? I've always seen those threads as being very well natured.

I really hope it's an April Fools joke, because otherwise, that is extreme. Shutting down the thread where the fight occurred is the suitable solution in my opinion. Deleting all the Spike/Spuffy threads? A lot of intelligent and unique discussions have happened there. It's such a shame.
 
I admit my initial thought that this was an April Fools joke, but this was posted on the 31st, so is it case of just bad timing or is this real?

Hmmm..... I must admit to not noticing much in the way of Spike/Spuffy arguments on threads. Sure, things do occasionally get a little heated, but I've never seen any instances of members seriously abusing each other in the name of all things Spike or Spuffy.

Hoping this is an April Fool to be honest as some of the Spuify threads I've contributed on have been really interesting and thought provoking and it'd be disappointing if the actions of one or two who maybe are taking their love (or hatred) for Spuffy too seriously are causing detriment to the people who genuinely just enjoy a friendly discussion about their ship.

Agreed . Getting rid of the Spike & Spuffy forums were bad . I not trying to start anything here but that just seem wrong 😕
 
I'm sorry but, whilst I don't really agree with this, I can see the reasoning. Some people have brought this down on the rest of us with their behaviour.

I hope its only for a while but until then I'll do what I've been doing for a while now- talk about Spike reasonably with Spike-fans in PM. 🙂


Though I see somebody is already blaming me, even though I contributed exactly two lines in two posts to the thread.

The real reason is that this somebody was quite clearly bullying another (very new) poster who was just trying to have a discussion about Faith, not Spike. This somebody then 'reported' the newbie to the mods and they got kinda scared.
So much so that @Mr. Trick and myself had to comfort her- she got kinda upset.

This somebody then went on to argue with the mod who were simply trying to defuse the situation.
Imo arguing with the mods about who is more at fault/'who started it' is something that feels like it should be left in the schoolyard.

If the mods call you out (and I've been there) then you have done something wrong and should recognise that fact and change your behaviour accordingly. I have.
The person who has caused this did not so they are to blame.

I like this idea. I think that's something we could all agree on as reasonable human beings. The only downside would be that Mr. Pole would also want a Concord sub-forum.
