Bangel or Spuffy? #2

Bangel always. Even if the only Bangel I get is Buffy1-3 season, Buffy S7, and whatever on Angel series I will always love the Bangel relationship over any other Buffy or Angel are in. Bangel Rocks imo. From their first meeting, everything in between, and all that followed; it will always be the ultimate relationship relationship for Buffy and Angel. Nothing else will come close to what they had or still have. Their flame will never go out and nothing can ever put it out or dim it. I hope that after Angel is human and Buffy no longer has to slay as much they will be reunited for good because their love always had the potential and fortitude to stand the test of time. What interesting conversations they would have under the circumstances. They have been going through similar experiences so it will not seem as they have been apart for long at all. The acting and chemistry between Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz was superb and which sold me on it from the first look Buffy and Angel shared.

Spuffy is basically a reguritation of the slayer/vampire relationship. It is unhealthy for both Buffy and Spike. If Buffy hadn't been depressed I doubt she would been in a relationship with Spike in the first place.it happened because that was the relationship for S6.

Spike literally DID go on a kamikaze mission after violating Buffy (the demon trials where he either losses and DIES, or he wins and gains his soul which is DEATH to who he is/all he knows himself to be). And he also never forced his way back into Buffy's life....you often tout this rhetoric....what is it based on? Certainly not what the show gives us.
No he didn't!!!! He just went out calling Buffy a bitch and then went to Africa to do something so that her trauma wouldn't matter. This is simply telling boys with time you'll be rewarded, no matter if the girl doesn't want to be around him or doesn't love him, his manpain is what matters. This is so wrong in so many levels. And this isn't something of an attitude Faith had because she agreed to spend 25+ years in a prison, had an opportunity to break out any time she wanted, but the only reason why she broke out is because Angelus needed to be saved of the demon that was inside of him.

Anyway this is literally Spuffy all the way:

  • Boy hates girl, Girl hates boy,
  • then suddenly boy after months of stalking and plotting for her death realizes that maybe he loves the girl (not even like first but directly LOVES),
  • now, boy is trying to force feelings down the Girl's throat and she's considered as a bitch because she's not giving him what he wants because he's changing for her, he's trying to be good FOR LOVE
  • after a while, Girl is thinking maybe Boy isn't that bad, he's changing for her so suddenly she has to have feelings for him...

I'm going to have to put some other people onto my ignore list.
That's the thing though - free speech don't mean free pass. If you put out a strong opinion you are going to get those who disagree with you and just going mean mean mean and using the ignore button means that you're not prepared to engage with those who feel differently. That's your choice but I think it shows how you are not interested in any opinion other than your own. For me fandom at least partially is learning about learning how others see things - I may not agree but I gain a perspective. It's about an exchange of ideas not creating validation gangs.

Bangel because Spike should be with Drusilla.

Sprusilla was an equal partnership, they both loved each other, and Spike was happy. Spuffy made him miserable.

Bangel has its issues but it didn't make Buffy miserable (at least pre-Angelus). Spuffy made both Buffy and Spike miserable.

Bangel wins by default.

I like your thinking, friend.

Yeah, the Spuffy relationship made Spike look worse. He was his best with Drusilla. Bangel is healthier than Spuffy.

A note on this thread. Let’s stop making it about posters rather than the post. There is also no reason to announce when you’re going to put someone on ignore, it is an option and it may the best thing, but when you’re announcing it you are simply trying to get a rise out of people.

This is a pretty sheltered environment, lets try to make these discussions as civil as possible and avoid these unnecessary conflicts.

Civil? Spuffy and Bangel is like the bleedin Hatfields and McCoys. Ain't nothing civil there.

I see Buffy as nothing BUT miserable throughout Bangel lol....Spike mattered too little to Buffy to be the cause of any of her miserableness in S6, tho yes she was the cause of his.....and I often wished Dru showed less indifference towards Spike in many scenes 😔 I don't doubt her love for him, but I wanted more displays/gestures of it

Dru shows plenty of affection for Spike.

She holds hands with him, she sits in his lap, she looks after him when he's in the wheelchair, she brings him the puppy to eat, she invites him out on a hunt, she touches him quite a lot.

@DeadlyDuo I think some people watched a different show.

She chose him to be her undead life partner.

@SpikeRocks Examples please?

They were together for over a century. They have one of the longest committed relationships out of all the main cast.

I actually think pre-vampire Dru and William would've hooked up if they'd met and been born in the same decade.
Same here.

Perhaps they were "destined" to be vampires so they could find one another. If William had met human Dru, he'd be like "Cecily who?"

Length of time committed doesn't make a relationship better. If that were the case then one could say that Willow with Kennedy was the best pairing as they had the longest time together.

How do you work that out? Willow and Kennedy were together half a season. If you count the comics (which I don't) they were split up off-screen in Season 8.

I don't work that out. I was parroting what other people have said based on their relationship in the comics. I think it was because of the time jump between 7 and 8.

She also lies to him about running into Angel and enjoys and returns Angelus's flirting. She may well have slept with him - Destiny shows she's done it before behind Spike's back. However she's been conditioned to respond to Angelus she still does - she does love Spike but she's doesn't love him as much as he loves her and she's not faithful.

She also lies to him about running into Angel

She didn't lie, she just didn't mention it. She didn't mention killing a slayer to Spike either. When Spike brings it up, she doesn't lie to him about it.

Besides what was there to tell? She ran into Angel whilst on a hunt, they briefly talked, then she left. A woman shouldn't have to report to their partner on who they speak to when they're out on their own.

Buffy didn't tell Riley about Angel so he immediately jumped to the conclusion they had slept together whilst she was in LA. Should Buffy have informed Riley about the exact interactions she had with Angel?

and enjoys and returns Angelus's flirting. She may well have slept with him - Destiny shows she's done it before behind Spike's back. However she's been conditioned to respond to Angelus she still does - she does love Spike but she's doesn't love him as much as he loves her and she's not faithful.

If Dru's been trained to respond to Angelus in a certain way, then she's going to respond to him in the way she's been trained to do so. The point is that, even with Angelus on the scene, Dru doesn't just ditch Spike. She continues to sleep with Spike as Angelus refers to her as giving Spike "pity access". she continues to show affection for Spike and Spike doesn't blame her for what she does with Angelus which shows that it's not just a simple case of her being "unfaithful" because he is quick to call her out on the Chaos Demon so he isn't blind to her faults.

Post Season 2, Dru feels hurt by Spike's betrayal and has started emotionally checking out of the relationship. She offers Spike that "they can still be friends" and he does win her back temporarily post- Lovers Walk. However, it is Spike's alliance with Buffy that wreaked the foundations of the relationship.
