Bright Young Women? Why

Well it reads like the author got her facts from Wikipedia lol, and I didn't find the narrators likeable. The stereotypes she used, including the ever popular "men are horrible" one - not one good one in the book and the narrator says half the men she knows are just as bad as "The Defendant". Really? Half the men you know are just as bad as Ted Bundy? What kind of men are you hanging out with?

The author also comes off as a giant hypocrite, writing a book so closely based on a true story that she didn't even bother to change all the victims' names, while criticizing other people who have made money off this story. She needed to either write a fictional story, or the true story, not this mixture that is supposed to be the victims' stories but isn't at all.

11. Memory Loss

The back half was not as good as the first half. The random lesbian storyline made me literally laugh out loud. I gave it 3 stars for a solid start.

Had to double check the dates for my current book for Victorian era, this one isn't there at 1827, but it's 1837-1901.

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. Okay, at the moment she's only assumed dead, but with the population now under one million, in most cases that would be a safe assumption.

So.. Almost there. Still missing an Angel if it has to be in the title, probably will remain missing. Hopeful about Victorian and memory loss... (Need to check Tim Curry's book to see if he had it temporarily after his stroke)

What i need is a book named Angel something set in Victorian England that covers memory loss. Damn, Black Beauty has two of three... Oh well, too depressing anyway.

I have already read way more than 12 books including non-fiction and *not* including several book length fanfics which contain vampires, Angel (not in title), visions, memory loss & powerlessness at minimum. Counts for me if not challenge.

I am unlikely to read any book with Angel in the title as the kinds of books i read rarely include Angels in any capacity (either spiritual or profane).

I also rarely read anything not Buffy fanfic that contains vampires as i dont care for vampire fiction as a genre. I basically like (love) Buffy and (a little bit) Blade - the movie only.

I read many of the other categories last year so they could come up again.

Like to read books about a diverse set of people - race, religion, class, nationality (including country book is set in) and orientation. Doing well already.

UPDATE 10/15/2026: Currently reading Clockwork Angel, set in Victorian England... So I am just missing 11 - memory loss (though this book has people who have been bespelled, not quite ready to count that yet). Still have almost 2 months before the Chanukah cruise... 😎

Yes @NotASlayer , I got Angels done w|o Dan Brown, though honestly not sure this is a whole lot better 'literature' but I actually like this fictional universe, soooo...
EDIT @NotASlayer again... That would be MY memory loss! I prefer life without brain bleach!!

Funny thing, @NotASlayer - you are to blame for my success. First Angel book in libby that caught my attention was set in Victorian times!

Regarding 11, the obliviate spell probably should count right? If so i am done... Because taken memories are lost...

We will see what else I read by December.

There were actual vampires in Clockwork Angel too.
