It looks like, assuming I (by which I mean online calculators 😀) have done my maths right that ours costs the equivalent of $8 a US liquid gallon. If people are upset at $3 a gallon...

So, Every few months my friends and I get together at mine for buffet food and a catch up. Normally we split the cost of the food and drink and it used to be £5 each. I've just done the buffet shop for Friday and it comes to £12 each.... says a lot about the cost of living. Still cheaper than going out out (if you can find somewhere to go) but still.

Gas is lower than the national average here in Oklahoma, so people do complain if it goes above 3 dollars a gallon. But I agree that is cheap . Where I used to live in Washington state it was $6 a gallon.

We don't get anywhere near that amount of variation; maybe 10-15p a litre at most, and usually less, except at motorway service stations where they tend to hike the price for anyone who has to fill up there. Perhaps because most of the price is tax.

It used to be 10p dearer at one station compared to another 8 miles away. Neither ones were near a motorway. Its closer to 5p difference now.

Given what you are saying then add to that the petrol costs in Australia will vary depending on which day of the week the product is bought, nice people that run the fuel companies.

Here in the Midwest part of the country (Missouri) we are paying between $2.76 and $2.99 a gallon for gas. ⛽ It's usually a few cents more on the weekends than it is mid week. ......Yeah, go figure!

Had an almost two month fight with the insurance company trying to lower and then just outright cancel the cover. Finally got the refund today! Only after I had to take it to the ombudsman. So that is a relief. But I do have to stay in town for the next few weeks so that I dont spend too much. I had a $1000 vet bill last week for my poodle. I need to make sure I stick to budget for a while now!

The, one of many, charity shop is closing down.

I had a wander through the charity shops yesterday, and some have got really expensive.

I did manage to get a, not real wool, jumper for £4.50, but most of them didn't have anything under a fiver now.

I thrift often, for myself and for my reselling, and I've definitely noticed an increase in prices as well. I visited one yesterday and did manage to get some reasonably priced items I needed for my kitchen, but noticed that many other items were grotesquely overpriced.
Also guess whatever else happened to me today? I tried to make an appointment with my doctor because I have pain in my ear, and was informed by the receptionist that my insurance has been canceled. I've been on hold for seventy five minutes with my insurance company trying to determine why this is. I certainly can't afford to pay out of pocket.

It's really expensive to be alive right now.

I recently discovered, and joined, a community called Freecycle in the UK where people give stuff away, ranging from broken junk to perfectly working things, to those who want them. The good stuff does tend to disappear rapidly, naturally, and you go and pick it up, so some things may be too far away for what they are. Though it's divided into sub-communities of different towns.

The good stuff does tend to disappear rapidly, naturally, and you go and pick it up, so some things may be too far away for what they are. I got banned from our local free page! I called out one of the admin for always claiming stuff, when it was against their rules to claim things for others, which was what she was doing. I'd heard she was hoarding loads of stuff too and selling it on.

There's a freecycle event here, but it's one hour every 3 months so not that useful.

Fortunately, there's no admin on Freecycle; it's just divided into different towns. And it looks like they started in the US. Stuff usually gets added every day, but I noticed that a lot of the best stuff gets taken quickly. And given you, usually, have to pick things up in person, that probably cuts down on those abusing it.

Yeah,the official one never really got started here, same as olio never took off here. However since I do go to the city often, maybe I should look on that one.

We have something similar to that in the US, called Buy Nothing. Unfortunately, the group in my neighborhood is not very active. I live in a somewhat economically depressed area, so there are many more folks asking for items then giving them away.

Where I used to live, I used Buy Nothing all the time, for everything from potatoes to batteries. It definitely saved my life in 2017-2020 when I was really broke.

Now that I'm better off financially, I give away items to pay it forward.

I want to buy a curved hot water bottle for this winter. You can get them that go around your neck, so I want one if those.

So far though I've not needed the hot water bottle, just the lightweight aka knock off oodie.
