Drusilla vs Kendra

So I was reading a forum about how dru bested Kendra seemingly easy & I remembered reading years ago “the book of fours” & there was a part where Kendra explained to Buffy how (Kendra) had previously battled a voodoo priest and during this encounter Kendra had become infected by his voodoo magic. It weakened her & would begin turning her into his slave as the infection grew. I got the impression that Kendra knew she was not 100% in “becoming” and that’s why she gave her stake to Buffy - knowing there was a big battle ahead (Acathla/Angel plus two other notorious vampires dru & Spike) so maybe she wasn’t liking her chances. However like a dutiful heroine she still set out to help Buffy. Kendra fought the vamps lead by Dru etc then Drusilla using her very psychic senses knew she there was something off about Kendra - she manipulated the fight with her hypnosis & killed Kendra - Drusilla didn’t drink her blood because she sensed the voodoo infection. That’s why Drusilla didn’t seem interested (as you’d assume drinking a Slayers blood would be too hard to pass up) - there was no follow up scene where Drusilla could of explained this to Angel or told him she killed a slayer. So I just thought this could make sense lol and the reason Buffy never got revenge on Drusilla is she (Buffy) had already made her peace with Kendra after the interaction in “the book of fours”.
Some may say the book is cannon but that’s just my theory xxx

That's an interesting possible explanation, but I don't like retconning, especially since none of that is even hinted at. It would explain Kendra's death. However, I'm sure that is not what the writers had in mind when they wrote Becoming. It just makes Kendra look like a lesser slayer to Buffy. It always bothers me, partly cuz I wanted more with Kendra, but we did get Faith, and I love Faith. Good theory though!

As above I'm grateful we had Faith in the end but having said that I would have liked to have seen more of Kendra and for her not to have died so quickly... it all felt a bit rushed her character and I thought it was a nice story to show different Slayers training/upbringings....

I really wished we got to see Kendra for another full season. Even if I am a faith Stan, I wish joss wrote a way to bring her back. Have Buffy and both of them team up to fight a vampire army or something. Her and faith conflicting ways would make for some great rivalry and show how Buffy is in the medium of them

I also think it would've been nice to get more of Kendra interacting with Buffy and the gang; maybe appearing in an episode or two between her introduction and her death would've fleshed out her character and given her a bit more to do.

As to the above theory- Drusilla is crazy, which is good enough reason for her to do or not do anything when it comes to killing, including feed off a slayer. After all, Spike didn't feed off of Nikki Wood, so its not always the done thing..

My fairly controversial opinion is that Kendra wasn't actually a very good slayer, especially considering she had been preparing for the role since childhood.
She beat up civilians for no reason, jumped to conclusions about her supposed foes and wasn't terribly good at slaying in general. Her best moments are beating the tar out of Angel...before leaving him in a cage to die in about 9 hours, and rescuing Buffy from Spike with a surprise acrobatic flip double-kick thing. That was cool.
But she wasn't a match for Spike or Buffy or Dru or really even any of Dru's minion vamps she had with her. I'm sorry her went so soon but not sorry she went, considering what we got after was so much better in every sense of the word.

I would have liked to have seen more Kendra, more episodes or longer story arc. Think it would have been cool to see her slaying with Buffy.

I always liked the idea of and wish the writers had made Dru sire Kendra- it would've been a good way to keep Kendra around longer (albeit as a villain (slayer/vamp though!)) and still have Faith be called.

It’s INSANE that they didn’t do this. I remember watching S2 when Dru attacks the library and being dumbfounded that she didn’t turn Kendra.

We really needed to see something like that. A vamp slayer would be so cool and have a lot of possibility story-wise. I guess the trade-off would be the the fact that Faith’s incredible arc may not have happened, though…

I could've worked both into Season 3- Vamp Kendra could've been killed off by the first half of the season, leaving plenty room for Dark Faith & the Mayor to do what they did.
