Oops. I finished the book last night! Won't ruin it, but it wasn't too bad. A little over the top in places but overall I'd recommend it.

Haha, you can still join in on the discussions I hope 🙂

I've only started these pages but so far I already feel that 'a little over the top in places', like there's some kind of unevenness here... Because the bad stuff is still piling on, Faith's mom obviously dies and she decides not to go to the funeral but now has to deal with this and I don't know, it's just such a short book that it feels like there's no way to do justice to what this character is really going through her. She doesn't really get to properly deal with anything I feel because the story just keeps going.

Is Alex's mom a Slayer I wonder now, and trying to connect with/possess Faith somehow to take out this bad vampire?

Just now catching up, was two weeks behind on reading. I did find this part of the book rushed (once more) as well. although, I would definitely say that the way Faith deals by running away is psychologically common. That she ran into K again is interesting...kind of feeds into the self destructive path. I love the portions talking about the dreams- it feels like this is the more consistent story line in the book.

Also my understanding of Alex was that she was the murdered daughter of a slayer... the slayer taking up shop in Faith to exact her vengeance upon the "Father".

I don’t have a lot to say about these pages. Finding out fo sure that Faith is dreaming of Alex’s mother, and that she was a Slayer was a good development. I like bringing Kenny back in, and Faith having issues with his drinking. I’m interested to see how being called changes her, if at all.

The return of Kenny! Who does interact with other people so he's not a ghost. It feels realistic that he's back to drinking again. And I like that Faith doesn't keep quiet, that she has issues with him drinking.

Buffy Summers: Finding out fo sure that Faith is dreaming of Alex’s mother, and that she was a Slayer was a good development.
Yes I liked this part too. Faith dreaming of being a mom after learning her own mom has died.

LOL at Faith being motivated by the tanto as a reward. Because of course she is! Also a random shout out to Faith's sense of humor. I know a shrink would say it's a coping mechanism, etc etc but I'm a fan. I especially like that line from a previous week: "Welcome to the Twilight Zone, may I take your order?"

Interesting to me that the moment she is called doesn't feel powerful or good for Faith, that instead she feels scared. But of course she doesn't share how she really feels with Diana, even though Diana asks her.

And that little "hi, Faith" at the end! Like she's in group therapy or an AA meeting and she's hearing the hi of the rest of the crowd after she announces that she's Faith the Vampire Slayer.
