How do Vampires shave and style their hair so well?

I'm just wondering how Angel or Spike keeps so well-shaven when they can't look in mirrors at themselves. I mean, obviously their characters are styled because they are on a TV show and everything, but ignoring that, in-canon, how do they look so well-kept?
Maybe when they shave they cut themselves a lot but it just heals really fast? 😛 Maybe they have assistance from someone? What do you guys think?
 
I'm not sure about the shaving but the no reflection explains why Angel and Spike tend to style their hair the same way for years at a time. Also why they tend to dress in the same clothes. Sike has his leather duster and Angel had the all-black thing mostly.

Also it speaks to vampire behaviour- if they like a look/style for themselves, then they tend to stick with it for a very long time.
Some vampires fall in love with a certain era of style or look and just continue to go with it.
 
Well it's not hard to put some gel in Spike's hair and slick it back. Even Angel makes fun of his hair when he can see himself in the mirror in Pylea. So clearly that's not how he would prefer his hair to be, but that's what he gets without a mirror. As for shaving. Idk, I'm a girl I don't have to shave my face so I'm not sure how hard it is. But yea maybe they just shave until they can't feel anymore hair, and cut themselves a lot. Idk. I liked it when we saw Spike painting his nails. When does he get his hair colored? lol
 
Haha Willow asking that question is one of my favourite little jokes in season 1.

I'd guess it's not too hard to do with an electric one since if I'm using that I'll wonder the house as I do it.

SPike's hair is easy to do as it's just all slicked back and as for Angel... "Does my hair always look like this?"
 
But do vampires hairs grow? If memory serves, in After the Fall, when Angel is human, he complains that he has to shave. I don't know how to explain Angelus's long hair, though. Maybe Angel doesn't need to shave, but needs to cut his hair every other day...
 
I didn't think vampire hair grew. They're not alive, so why would their bodies act like they are? But then I guess you could argue how, in that case, do they have sex....? 😵

Maybe because they're old fashioned guys they go to their local barber for a wet shave? 😛

Naturally, and after they go to the vampire launderette and while their vampire smalls are being bleached, they go to the vampire butcher for their daily blood before stopping off at Tesco for a vampire dvd (they love the 24 hour openings!)
 
I'd like to think Angel would appreciate the quality of a blu-ray. 😛

Spike is all about laserdisk though.

Well, sure, that's the whole problem with them being dead.😛 It's just fantasy. How can Spike get drunk if he has no circulation to transport the alcohol? How can they get an erection? How can they move their muscles if they're not being supplied with oxygen? You could just as well break it down to, "if they're dead, why do they still live?" It's bound to break natural laws, but that's why it's interesting in the first place. I don't mind it.

I remember reading something once about how if zombies actually happened they wouldn't be able to move because all of the mass in their system would fall to their feet or something like that. Amusing stuff...grotesque, but amusing.
 
I can say from experience that shaving without a mirror isn't all that hard, and, considering the fact that Angel and Spike have been doing it for a long, LONG time, they've probably gotten used to it. Also, as was pointed out, vampires' hair probably doesn't grow all that fast, if at all. Even the women vampires that we saw kept their hair styles fairly simple, at least in modern times. In the scene where Darla turns Liam, just about the most complicated fashion statement we ever saw a vampire in the Buffyverse make, she could just as easily been wearing a wig, with the dim light eliminating any real need for much in the way of makeup.

Yes they grow hair, it might just be really slow, since they can live longer. Because we see 20's and 50's Angel with basically the same cute short hair, then he has long hair in the 70's (in Orpheus) and 90's when Whistler finds him. Maybe it took 20 years for him to grow his hair out that long. lol.
 
They also have no fashion sense - as both Angel and Spike show, at least according to Cordy!😀
 
I didn't think their hair could grow at all. Did Darla or Dru's hair ever change length?
