Question Magic.

Can vampires do magic on the same scale as.. Dark Willow for instance? Or is it like vampire diaries? Where if you are a witch and become a vampire you are no longer able to do magic.

I would think you could do it on the same scale, if they wanted. If you consider what Spike said to be gospel then all vampires are capable of doing magic.

We've seen vampires do magic spells. As far as the level of skill that a vampire might possess, I don't see any reason why just being a vampire would be any kind of limitation. (I'm not sure if Angelus' attempt to destroy the world in Season 2 counts or not, but that was right up there with Dark Willow in Season 6) We've seen other types of demons who can apparently control an apparently higher level of magic that Willow can, in fact, such as the Cave Dweller who restored Spike's soul. Certainly, Willow restored Angel's soul, not once, but twice, but she was only reinstating a previously existing spell, cast, supposedly, by some Gypsy witch, wizard, or sorcerer. The Cave Dweller actually created his spell which, I would think, would be much harder.

Vampires appear to retain the skills and abilities of the human they once were and that is reasonable because they have all the memories of the humans that originally owned their bodies. If a vampire had been a witch, they would know all the spells and glamours the original person knew. We see vampires with personalities derived from their humans and it would be no surprise to see them retain capabilities. If a person had been a musician before being sired then the resulting vampire would also be a musician.
