No More PBP - RP's For You?

So I was wandering the internet, as one does, and I thought to myself, "Self... I wonder if there are still Buffy/Angel RP forum's left?"

Considering I decided start my own on these esteemed boards... I was curious, surely others must exist?

So I began a search, scaling vast digital networks, digging through archives both dusty and dank. Everywhere I went, hollow husks of websites, and skeleton's of stories abandoned lay strewn about. Stories of alternate pasts, and alarming futures, lay overgrown by years of digital neglect. I thought I spied one, but it was a mirage, a ghostly forum updated only by bots. After hours of searching, I returned, tired, hungry and empty handed.

So what gives, where have all the Rp's and there magical human players gone? Did some mysterious force wipe them out? Are they... extinct? If so.. why? Should I be worried? Am I...next?
 
It's coming for you. The shadow. It eats Rp's... I can't say anymore but...

*distant howl in the background*

Honestly, I'm not sure what happened to the RPGs, they just kind of... faded out. Maybe we're all next?😱
 
My working theory is that as the folks, who watched the show as kids, grow up, they get busy with RL, and then slowly abandon their Alternate realities. Either that or babies.... millions of crying babies.
 
In my opinion I think its two-fold. First being more instantaneous forms of social media has pushed forums and chat-rooms aside, second, video games have pushed the tradition RPG to the background. You hear about tons of mmorpgs. That seems to be where some of the RPGers went or where potential RPGers now go.

That's so... sad. I mean don't get me wrong, mmo's are fun, but those narratives are all written by others. Play by posts RP's are were you get to make your own narratives and stories.

Plus it's really great for potential writers to stretch their legs and practice their craft. Fanfic's are still fun, but the interaction with other writers, that's where the 'juice' is.

I mean it was always sort of niche, but now they seem all but extinct. Perhaps I'm just being nostalgia.
 
Sounds like it . People seem to be on mmo's a lot . I guess that a lot of people also are to busy to do so now days .

I knew there a few on FanFiction . Or at least there were . Glad you made one here . Looking forward to a long time playing it 😀
 
So I think after a round of invites, I figured out another cause. Some folks just plain don't know what a play by post roleplay (RP) means.

I'm literally shocked by this. Also kind of excited because it means I get to introduce new fans to a highly addictive game. I'm like a drug dealer... except with no profit other then smiling faces, and I don't have to worry about being shot!
 
How do you know that . People can get really caught up in their roleplaying 😛
 
It set in LA but it has people from both Angel & Buffy in there . So you can pick who you want to be there .
You just need to come up with a reason they in LA . Like if you want to play Cordelia you have to explain how she alive .
 
She was trapped and waiting having different form. I wish someone roleplay Xander and fred. she is not human and demon, she is Angel or Amazon Princess, what do u think?

I think that a good idea myself . I would say a Amazon Princess would be great .
Just one question . If she in a different form what does she look like ?
