A fellow Buffy fan and friend emailed this to me today. What do you think? Will you buy and read it?

Eh, I dont think I'll read this one. It doesnt look like it takes place in the buffyverse, and there doesn't seem to be any other known characters involved. Perhaps it takes place prior to Tara moving to Sunnydale?

Honestly I think it sounds pretty interesting! It’s weird because I was just thinking the other day about what Tara’s life must have been like pre-soobies. I think her past would be the most intresting to learn about out of all the secondary characters 🙂
 
I heard about this a few months ago but I didn't realize they had released a plot synopsis. I'll probably read this one just because it's Tara and it's impossible not to love her. I finished the Spike novel last year and didn't like it as much as I hoped I would, so maybe this one will be a nice change of pace.
 
Very excited to get this one. The Spike book, Bloody Fool for Love, was actually quite enjoyable. Hopefully this next book is just as good
 
I am also excited for this one. But Joan brings up a good point that this story seems to be set in an AU Buffyverse. I say this because when we meet Tara, she's meek and shy. Not one to ruffle feathers. She's also still afraid of her gift because she thinks she's going to be turned into a demon. So I do hope that the author addresses some of these things that we know about Tara pre-Sunnydale.
 
The synopsis tells us it's a pre-quel. Before Tara even moves to Sunnydale. I'm going to order it and read it. I'm enjoying this uptick in Disney Hyperion publishing Buffyverse books. Even if they're new-generation or pre-Scoobies. (Post and Pre Sunnydale)

I’m about 30% of the way through right now and I am LOVING it. It feels like it’s set within the verse, and it’s the first Buffyverse book without Buffy as a main character that I have thoroughly enjoyed. It even gives background on Tara’s relationship with her family from when we met them in that one episode and why she is so timid when she first joins the show.
 
Almost finished with the book. There are a few throwaway mentions of Giles that I wish weren’t in the book. I won’t spoil why he’s mentioned, but it just makes it seem shoehorned. I would have preferred for no allusions to Sunnydale. Having a character mention a “Mr. Giles” in some place called Sunnydale makes no sense in comparison to Tara’s story arc on the show. That being said, the author does an AMAZING job continuing to showcase how horrible Tara’s family is, and why she is so shy and timid when we meet her in Season 4. But also showing the character she would become in 5 and 6. ❤️
 
I've been waiting for this book to come to my bookstore. Either they don't have it, or there are other fans buying the one copy they keep on the shelves. 🤦‍♀️
 
Finally found a physical copy on vacation, and I just started the book. I hope I continue to love it! I will say, the cover art is so beautiful, and I hope if they keep the prequel series going that the rest of the books have covers this pretty.
 
my girlfriend got me this book as a congrats for landing my first radio job! I am only a few chapters in and its definitely a good read for any Tara fans- the author has definitely put a lot of work into the portrayal of the character as almost everything she says and does feels very genuine to her- even down to the stutter! it is very much a classic fan fiction-esque novel though, new kid at a mysterious high school with jocks and popular kids and all the works. Not one of the more sophisticated buffy books out there as it definitely has a more teen/ young adult lens but is still good if you're looking for a nice cozy read.
