The Brand New, Bacon Cheeseburger Flavoured Random Thread.

Where better to post this than the bacon cheeseburger thread? Wendy's burger chain is planning to introduce surge pricing.

Uber uses surge pricing to entice more drivers to a busy time or place with better pay. But apparently, the theory here is that when you are already having to stand in a longer line, you should also have to pay more for the same food. The new CEO is planning to spend $30 mil on this initiative. How about give him the boot, and use that money to pay the workers better?
Wow , I cant see how this will work. There are so many fast food places that if 1 of them pushed their prices up people will just go somewhere else.
Although I did laugh when it said Coke experimented with vending machines that raised the cost of drinks based on the outside temperature - the hotter the weather, the more expensive the soda. That is so cheeky !
She ran surprisingly well in heels too! You would think she'd at least kick them off...

Speaking of which, here's Scully in the background showing Tia Carrere how to run in heels.

Haha. I couldn't view your video so not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but it used to annoy me the number of times Mulder + Scully would be in a chase and she would lag behind or stumble so he would get to see something like an alien spaceship and by the time she got there it would be gone and she could carry on being a sceptic. She's an FBI agent! Make her go to the gym and learn how to run !!

Not sarcastic; she's running rather well, even in heels! If only she could do that when it mattered!
An excuse to rip off customers. And this is a trial? It'll be a short-lived one when customers turn away.

I hate how corporatized our society has gotten. I was literally scrolling through tech industry news and seeing like “Star Wars game cancelled because executives want it to be a greedy digital marketplace.”

Like what happened to “hey we made this thing, here’s an affordable price for it. Isn’t that neat??” Or people actually enjoying their work instead of headlines about how we have to hit margins and quotas for this season or the layoffs will continue.

It’s all money money money and it sucks.

It should be the other way around, make the slow hours cheaper, like happy hour. I'd absolutely make an effort to get to a place if they offered off peak prices.
You should be their CEO! Wendy's backtracked rapidly and said that, no, they would try offering discounts at slow times. Which amounts to the same thing, but sounds better.

I should be a CEO! Someone give me that job 😀

Wendys hasnt taken hold in Oz yet. We already have a Wendys milkshake and hotdogs, but big Wendys is probably going to beat little wendys to death once it gets here.

You are now CEO of Amazon. What is your first action

Oh, agree! And not limited to the food industry, is it?

Everything nowadays is about making money and everything is a business. From baby to the time we leave this earth, it's all about making money. It's pretty sad, isn't it?

It's all about numbers.

Last week was a Forrest Gump skit, and this week an Air Bud skit. Did the writing staff find a folder of sketches they had lost in 1995?

😀

Yeah, they'll raise what their "normal" price is and then offer discounts at off peak times. If a particular sandwich costs $5 now, I'll bet that you'll never see it below that.

My frozen lasagna claims it has "2X the meat required by the lasagna with meat sauce standard." So one, we have such a standard? And two, what government agency determines these things? (Your tax dollars at work!) The box gives no guidance on this. I'm tempted to call the 800 number just to ask.

The FDA I think; I am not American. I came across a reference saying that, and I think it was the FDA, had standards for the maximum amount of insect matter allowed in food per million.
