I’d love to see some (a few) roles given to some of Joss’ favs. Joss seems to favor Acker, Denisof, Fillion, and Torres. He uses these guys and gals often. Also Joss just went out to lunch with Denisof not too long ago (he tweeted about it.)

ooooh that sounds like good gossip, not that going for lunch means a new part in a new show... has he gone out for lunch with Anthony Head at all, it'd be great to see him cameo somewhere. I could get so carried away with this though, I don't think there's any actor I wouldn't want to see. Is Tahmoh Penikett free? He is gorgeous.

We don't call it the Victorian Era in the US. It gets used for some social history, her reign is subservient to the Civil War, the central event of the 19th century.

This could be really good. I like the Victorian period especially if it has elements of steampink. It's nice to see Joss out of superhero movie's creating something original. Don't really care for the title though.

Yeah, I have no confidence in AT&T. I understand why they want to change things (they think more content, more money, more prestige) but it is just a horrible idea.

Showtime definitely has/has had quality shows. Netflix too. AMC used to, now they mostly have Better Call Saul as the flag-bearer. It'll probably depend on the quality of the Game of Thrones prequels.

I didn't see season 2 of TD. Just a clip of Rachel McAdams awkwardly dirty talking. Looked weird.

@SES SA I thought this quote about HBO and Netflix summed it up perfectly "You refer to HBO as a chic restaurant where it's tough to get a reservation and Netflix is an all-you-can-eat buffet." I don't want HBO to turn into a buffet also.

Someone we definitely won't see is Adam Baldwin. They had a Twitter feud over their different political views.

Yeah, like @Fuffy Baith said (hi Fuffy!) this sounds like it is going to be steampunk (victorian+sci fi). With so little information to go on it is hard to speculate, but I will tune in. I'm torn between seeing some old faces in the show or preferring new ones. I think I lean toward new people. Maybe just AD if anyone.

The premise seems Meh but we will see. Depends on the casting and the writing. But I will give it a shot for sure!

I don't know whether there's been any indication if this show will be set in England, or in America. If in England I hope they go with mostly British actors. Having American actors putting on British accents was OK when it was just a few characters, like in Buffy, but not if everyone is supposed to be British.

It's hard to imagine Anthony Head not being involved in some way... and maybe his daughters.

I was hoping by now that Joss would either pick better names for his shows or let someone else do it. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a name that sounded stupid to a lot of people. And Angel - what's that about? Dollhouse sounded like a story about either early childhood or a brothel. Firefly was an entry-level 3-cylinder Suzuki car sold through the Pontiac division of General Motors.

And now we get "The Nevers"? How exactly is that going to draw in new viewers?

Polygon got a chance to sit down with Whedon during San Diego Comic-Con 2018, where he was promoting his upcoming Dr. Horrible one-shot for Dark Horse, and asked him to open up a bit more about the mysterious Nevers. With the Victorian setting, was the title maybe a reference to Peter Pan?

“I can easily shoot that down,” the writer/director answered. “I dislike Peter Pan enormously as a myth and as a story. I am not a Peter Pan man,” he joked.

“It’s more meant to evoke the sort of attitude of ... these women have certain afflictions or abilities or skills. Something is changing, something more than just the end of the century, and it feels odd and it feels terrifying to some.”

Whedon says that the main characters are never called “the Nevers” within the story, it’s simply the name of the show. “To me it spoke very plainly to the idea of we are upsetting your idea of what is and what is allowed.”

Fantastical characters but not in a fantastical world, or a world that was not fantastical yet, it seemed to us. He agreed.

“It’s gotten a little strange in the last few years,” he added. “Sometime around 1895 it started getting a little warped. And now there seems to be a gathering and a purpose and a very strong reaction about that.”
