Parting Gifts was also one of the first episodes of Angel to show a more playful side to the show. Which IMO was a good thing. You can only go so dark.

Something Blue- Spuffy worked in that episode because it was played as a joke, as something that NEITHER Spike or Buffy would do.

All the Way. I kinda like the fake-out with the doll maker and while it's a little clunky its at least exciting to see the development v. the other episode which I find incredibly boring. And I enjoy that Buffy thinks of Angel when Anya gives her speech about the person you are meant to be with.
