I would ship Anya/Spike alongside Harmony/Spike right after Dru/Spike. Dru/Spike should've stayed together, at least then we could've got to see the entirety of the Whirlwind together in modern day in Angel Season 2, perhaps doing a similar walk of power that they did during the boxer rebellion.

What balcony scene with Giles and Buffy?

As you wish...the board is still buggy enough that I can't do much on this. The picture I'm sharing comes from the first ep and is just before Willow "seizes the moment" and leaves with a vampire (Giles is telling her to reach out with her Slayer senses to detect vampires, Buffy instead uses her "fashion sense").

NOTE: I wouldn't place this in season 1 save as a Family Guy-style trollish comedy (which can work if it's understood as such), and would instead doctor the raw script with Giles coming back saying that he has "returned to his roots" and demands Buffy calls him by his "true name" of "Ripper," and that he has come back for her...but hey, whatever floats your boat. In any case I'm just putting the dialog down, only replacing "Spike" with "Giles" (or should that be "Ripper"?).

Come to think of it...Giles returning as a vampire and having a demonic desire to continue with Buffy! That is not only so season 6, but is actually an interesting Big Bad to me!

It's also worth noting that I consider season 6 effed up and Giles out of character anyway, just another reason for me to want to place it in season 6. I also found this uncomfortable enough that I'm replacing the name of Giles with Ripper (though it technically shouldn't matter since Giles and Ripper are the same person, or more accurately, aspects of the same person, as opposed to a Hyena spirit or a soulless version, unless you do as I'm doing now and imagining Giles returned as a vampire to seduce Buffy into becoming one of the undead)...

I also want to remind people that so many consider the balcony scene with Spike to be hot as hell.

Giles/Ripper (O.S.)

She doesn't. His overcoat swings in, obscuring the action as he gets her skirt up. Her breathing quickens. She gasps. Giles moans, his face consumed in the moment. Buffy grips he railing, her knuckles white.

She sees Xander, Anya, and Willow down on the main floor, dancing and laughing, totally oblivious. She closes her eyes, unable to look at them.


RIPPER (cont'd)
No. Don't close your eyes.

Buffy opens her eyes. Giles continues moving rhythmically behind her, his breath hot on her neck.

RIPPER (cont'd)
Look at them. That's not your world.
You belong in the shadows... with me.
Look at your friends... and tell me
you don't love getting away with this
right under their noses...

Buffy's face is wracked by guilt, but she doesn't move away -- or close her eyes.

Jenny was the only one we saw him in love with.

Buffy was who he had the strongest emotional connection s1-6.

But there's something so "Buffy with her married gay dads/uncles" that I got from A New Man that makes me want to pick Ethan. I like how she almost playfully knees him in the back. And he did technically give Buffy her first tattoo.

As an aside, is anyone aware of any slash fic between Giles and Ethan? The tension there between the two could work.

I'm utterly indifferent about shipping Giles personally though. In a way maybe it is because I see Giles as one of those guys who might be comfortable being a bachelor for life. I have a few friends like that, and they are fine with it. Giles seems cut out of the same cloth to me. The point seems to be placing a high value on one's freedom, generally speaking.

Jenny. All the way, I was kinda hoping that she would you know, come back alive, and was really sad when Angel killed her even if he wasn't really himself. I feel like Buffy would hate Giles if he got together with Joyce. Buffy with Giles? Yuck! There is a HUGE age gap between them, and Angel is good with her because he doesn't look 289 years old, or however old he is. Anya? If your referring to the demon-fairy girl, then thats just straight up weird, isn't she like, over 1000 years old? And, she looks Buffy's age, so wouldn't he get arrested? And Ethan? Well, didn't he try to kill them multiple times? Oh, yeah, he did. He doesn't have to keep any secrets from Jenny, because she knows all about the hellmouth and all of that stuff. I haven't watched enough of the show to know who Olivia is, but by the low number of votes, I can tell others say no to her. Anyway, Jenny is the perfect person for Giles.

I mean They had so much more chemistry in 1 episode than any other canon couple (well besides Spike and Drusilla that is top for me).

He is handsome,middle-age watcher who is book-smart with a lot experience

Other hand She is 1000 years old ex demon who has a lot of more life experience.

She can brought craziness,sexiness in him.He can bring her to normalness in her.He has a lot of patience to stand her weirdness.And lastly She is totally gorgerous.

I voted for Anya, because I loved them in Tabula Rasa! And I ship Anya with anyone other than Xander. But for Giles I'd actually go with Jenny. I really loved their relationship in season 2.

Anya and Giles. I like this pairing. I think two smart people, one with a wealth of education and a scholar's curiosity and the other with 1000+ years of experience would be an awesome idea. He has a dry humour and she has a profound sense of the absurd. They could definitely work!

Ethan and Giles. I am an Ethan/Giles shipper ever since reading the epic series Of Old Mystics (now on AO3). I think their chemistry lit up the screen! They would have a lot to work through and Ethan would have to let go of his rage at Giles, but they have something very hottt!

Joyce and Giles. I wanted Buffy to have a big happy family and i rhink it could have worked, but there was never quite the right moment. They had common ground but had they gotten together and broken up that would have been hell on Buffy.

Jenny & Giles. I don't think Jenny and Giles ever communicated well. They were cute but even without betrayal I don't think they were alike enough in the right ways (values, priorities). Similar interests are not enough if you have different moral worldviews - especially if one of you is lying. She did not deserve death, but handling things differently might have had a better outcome.

Olivia & Giles. I loved Olivia as a character and wanted them to work but unless she could adjust to the reality of a life with someone who lived in the middle of the supernatural, they would not work. She seemed overwhelmed.

Adult Faith post Sunnydale & Giles. I think they could have worked. She was never his surrogate child. Both of them rebelled against their duties. They could connect. Giles needs a bit of no BS straightforwardness in a woman (hence also Anya) and Fairh likes smart men and needs a man who can challenge her more than the lustbombs that she has been used to (and probably used by - leading to her jaded attitude)

Xander and Giles

Xander. 🙂 I'm a huge Giles/Xander fan and I never saw them having a father/son relationship because Giles never seemed interested in having one.

Ugh. Oil. Water. One is cerebral the other is practical and physical. They do not fit. They grate. Xander annoys Giles. Giles would be too intellectual not to set off Xander's sense of inadequacy. Giles would hurt Xander without even rcognizing it and he would not see the good or the hero in Xander enough to make him feel safe or respected or equal. Xander would end up feeling stupid, which is NOT the case.

Giles especially would be bored because they have few common interests and the age (generation) difference would make those difference even bigger. Nothing common but the fight. Just lots of things that push them apart.

They would abrade each other.

I love both, but not together.
