Who else *needs* Sarah Michelle Gellar on screen?

Supernatural has just come to an end with several apparitions from Buffyverse stars as one of its many nods to the show that is a reason this series exists. However, it's always bothered me how - among all of them - Eric Kripke never called Sarah Michelle Gellar in for an episode in 15 years - fifteen ************* years. And what to say of Joss Whedon - let's talk about the perfect professional partnership. All this time and not even one of his indies?

I love Sarah and even if most of her post-Buffy work were not the best, I do miss her on screen and wish she were still acting. How thrilling was it to find out she'd be on something new, as much Ringer as its synopsis sounded. I refuse to accept Sometimes I Lie as one more canceled project. To be honest, sometimes I wonder what'd have happened if she hadn't turned down that Stardust role. People say she got typecast so that'd be someting quite different from the girls we had been seeing her portray. Why why why???

Anyway, cinema didn't work? She belongs to television whatsoever (not voice work). Thus, it's the Golden Age of Streaming.

Where is Sarah Michelle Gellar?

I can guarantee that SMG was asked to be in SPN, so you should take it up with her why she said no :)
The last estimate I heard for SMG's net worth was $14.5 million and she is married to another experienced actor who could also have a similar value. They have two children that they zealously try to keep away from the paparazzi. She seems to enjoy the life she has right now. What would ever push her to return? She doesn't need the money. She doesn't want the fame. There are a number of actors and actresses who have had their seasons of fame and walked away from Hollywood. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that she had moved to Montana where your nearest neighbour would be over the horizon.

I would like to be proven wrong but her adventures in Hollywood were not altogether to her liking. I think if she did come back, she would rather be a producer calling the shots than a lowly actor who has to take direction from someone else who she may be at loggerheads with.

Hasn't SMG got a couple of tv shows lined up with Reece Witherspoon's production company? I'm looking forward to seeing her on tv again.

Edit: Covid has put a stop to a lot of productions.

And she's running her own business which takes time and effort as well. I don't really consider her an actor anymore. And honestly, I don't really care to see her in anything.

They sounded really good and I hope COVID hasn’t put the kibosh on them

I think in a few years Sarah could want to come back to acting but it seems like right now she wants to focus on her children and her business.

Never seen her in anything other than Buffy and there are few films/shows I'd watch simply because they featured a certain actor. In the nicest possible way...I haven't missed her.

how can you not want her to revive and redeem her movie career though?

I do wish she had taken the Stardust role, however, that movie was straight to dvd here, much like other of her work, so I’m not sure it would have made her ”bigger”.

I miss seeing her in something good. I got bored with Ringer and never got into The Crazy Ones. I like a couple of her movies, but some were real stinkers.

I would like to see her on screen again though, so I do hope she - at some point - finds a new successful project.

I agree that if she was in Stardust, it would've been a great addition to her resume but probably wouldn't have launched a huge movie career for her. I can't believe she lost that role to Clare Danes just like Romeo + Juliet. Along with her losing out on the role in Gangs of New York role to Cameron Diaz and the Crucible to Winona Ryder, she needs a good period piece on her resume. A good comedy - but not a romantic comedy, she needs a hardcore comedy. And a big action movie like Birds of Prey or Gotham City Sirens (she should be Poison Ivy!).
I loved her as a scream queen in the 90s with IKWYDLS & Scream 2 (should've played Sasha in Urban Legend too) as well as in the Grudge... and the silly yet iconic Scooby Doo... so I'd love her to do another big horror & horror comedy. Or even indie, as long as the material is good!
I obviously love her on Buffy but I don't think she belongs on television necessarily. I loved Ringer and even though the concept of her playing twins wasn't executed as perfectly as it could've been, it wasn't given time to blossom...and I never got into the Crazy Ones. I think her contribution to t.v. with Buffy & Angel alone has been so big, she should just focus on really good movies for the most part from here on out to diversify her resume.

She mainly did Teen/Horror movie roles which she based her career around. She always saw Buffy as a Teen show and catered her carreer accordingly and never really broke out of it. So once the audience moved on to the next thing her career was done. She tried to resurrect Cruel Intentions with a TV series but that wasn't successful. I know she was in Starwars Rebels but that's pretty much it.
Its Ironic but David Borenaz has had more regular work than most of the Cast

If that's what she wants for herself, I wish her all the luck in the world but it's not something I need. She's got a successful company outside the industry and seems to like the life she leads. Maybe she wants to spend time with her kids?

Not seen it. I've seen fragments of her other work but nothing in its entirety. The same for the rest of the cast. I watched James in Runaways S1, otherwise I've only caught the odd episodes in Supernatural, Torchwood etc. LOL! Actually, that's a lie. I've seen D.B Woodside in Lucifer and J. August Richards in Shield but never seen anything with Alison or David in. I've got the DVD of Tru-calling (?) and Much Ado but not watched either. There aren't many actors who determine my viewing habits.

And her husband.

But I think the biggest thing is, as she said years ago, she doesn't want to have to leave LA to work. It was hard to do before, might be harder going forward.

Yeah...true...and her husband. TBH, forgetting about husbands is force of habit for me. :D
