Buffy Season 7 Appreciation

What are some of your fav episodes of the season guys?

Sleeper is my favourite episode. I love that by tasting Buffy, Spike can overcome The Firsts trigger and that Buffy understands that he's being used, and she wants to help him, not punish him.

Conversations With Dead People is amazing, especially Dawn's segment, which I find actually scary. Lies My Parents Told Me, Chosen, First Date, Never Leave Me, The Killer In Me . . . there are some amazing episodes in season 7

I love all those episode too!🙂
Add Touched & Beneath You & Selfless and those are my S7 favs 🙂

Yes love Touched and Beneath You. I love ALL of Season 7 really!

I love this scene 😛

I love season 7 because everyone gets to redeem themselves. Willow uses her magic to save lives and give power instead of absorbing it. Buffy embraces humanity and leads others instead of turning away from them. Spike does not try to take Buffy into the dark, rather he inspires her to get out of the darkness when she needed him to. Anya praises humans and chooses to fight with them instead of running away. Dawn doesn't try too hard to be noticed, she actually grows up a lot and understands her role. Xander continues to see the best in others, which may not be redemption, but I have to give him credit for what he does for Anya and Dawn, and acknowledge that this is without a doubt his best season.

Favorite episodes: Conversations with Dead People, Showtime, Touched, Chosen

I love this season for all the same reasons as you.
Every character really develops in their own way and Buffy, Spike Willow, Dawn, Anya & even Xander mature so much and become adults.
They grow into the people they're always meant to be 🙂

I remember strongly disliking Season 7. But, after a rewatch, I've come appreciate it for the same reasons you have. I see how the characters have grown over the course of the season and how some of that growth had to come from a dark place.

Conversations With Dead People is a stellar episode. Caleb was also just a menacing villain, like, god damn, Nathan Fillion just has so much presence. I liked some potentials more than others, there was one girl who sounded like she'd only ever heard a british accent described to her. Kennedy and Willow were... Okay, I guess? They didn't exactly have the best on screen chemistry and there was something even a little statutory about it. Buffy and Wood actually did have a little something going, that restaurant scene was seemingly setting up something bigger.

I still found season 5 the most watchable, but I appreciate a lot of things in season 7. Conversations With Dead People especially.

One of the things I loved about this season was the refocus on high school (as if the show was getting back to its roots), the emphasis on Dawn and her growing up, the overall happiness factor being lifted from season six, and the family-like relationship between the Potentials. Some of my favorites from this season have to be Help (love that episode so much), Him, Conversations With Dead People, Storyteller, Lies My Parents Told Me, and Chosen.

Recently revisited this season, and my god I can see why it deserves so much love. So many incredible, powerful episodes. Obviously, I ♥ Spuffy this season. This is when Spuffy became really touching and romantic, and builds on passion from previous seasons with genuine caring and loyalty on both sides.

These ones are brilliant for showcasing the epic quality of the narrative:
-Showtime
-Chosen
-Lessons
-Storyteller
-Empty Places
-Never Leave Me

For brilliant character development:
-Lies My Parents Told Me (to me this is honestly more like a movie, than a TV episode, it's that good.)
-Conversations With Dead People
-Sleeper
-The Killer in Me

For Spuffy:
-Beneath You
-First Date (love how Spike gets jealous)
-Dirty Girls (love how Buffy gets jealous)
-Potential
-Touched
-Chosen

I'm sure there are more, but I'm currently doing a S7 revisit and loving every minute of it so will likely add more.
Actually, I love mostly every episode from this season, except for a few (like Him, for instance, which felt more like filler, but still there was that awesome train scene chase with Buffy, which was very cool.)

Love this season.

I am obviously quite harsh on this season throughout the boards but as I have been doing a re-watch I thought it would be good to pop in here and say that I love some of the cinematography choices I'm seeing so far. I think the direction and look of the season is very well developed. From a production standpoint, I think they really did get an increase in budget or talent because the episodes look very polished.

Yes!! I've been noticing that as well. The scenes in the cemetery are beautifully shot. And the scenes at the high school (except in the basement) have a light/colorful quality that reminds me of season 4.

Yes I agree with this. I also <3 Spuffy this season

Okay guys, there are so much thread where we talked about how bad season 7 is and I have enough of this and think we need a safe thread where we can say what we love in this season. Please, say just the positive things, there are enough others thread where you can go and discharge the hate on season 7.

Since it's late, I'm tired, I just want to show some of my favorite moments :
