Did Sarah REALLY perform her some of her own stunts?

So I know everyone says she does but here's the thing, her old stunt-double was sick of her and said Sarah had some attitude problems. Even her husband said sarah was a diva back then which is why they left the show together after season 4 (or were fired idk). I read that woman's article where she said that sarah always took credits for her stunts and when things started getting rough between them, sarah told the crew members not to clap for her stunt-double's stunts. I didn't believe this at first but Jeff started uploading behind the scenes videos on youtube and literally, like what her stunt-double said, sarah would only appear for close-up fight scenes. Some interviewers and stuff also figured out that Joss didn't let the original cast members perform many stunts because he didn't want them to get hurt at all.. But sarah said she got hurt a lot.
I have also heard some people in the entertainment industry say that Sarah is a hard actress to work with.
Anyway, what is your opinion on all this? I thought it was bullcrap before but when i watched those youtube videos and noticed that even for small stunts, sometimes the stunt doubles had to come.. I don't mind stunt doubles doing the stunts ofc.. Thats their job.. The only irritating thing is that, IF its true, sarah took credit for her stunt-double. Please dont get pissed with me. I LOOVVVEEEEEEE SARAH! I am totally obsessed with her and have literally watched all of her movies so this isn't me bashing her.. Just getting some opinions that's all

What videos did you watch? I don't believe I've seen them, but I have read that Sarah tried to do as much of her stunt work as possible. I've also heard about her coming off as difficult to work with, but people seem to debate if it was diva behavior or if she was just really professional and a bit shy.

check out jeff pruitt's channel on youtube. He uploaded them

If I were the producer, I would not let the star or even a recurring character do their own stunts. It would cost a fortune to either shut the production down (because all the sponsors had already paid and would want their money back) or have to retool the show to accommodate the star in a cast. Doubly important for a slayer who is supposed to have accelerated healing properties. It was bad enough on Angel when David Boreanaz had knee surgery and spent most of the season behind a desk getting fatter because he could barely move. Some acting contracts have a "no motorcycles or skydiving" clause to avoid this kind of risk.

Buffy apparently broke a bone in her hand during the filming of "Homecoming". She told Wes Craven that she had done all her own stunts on Buffy when she was working on Scream 2 but she refused to allow herself to be thrown off the balcony to her character's death.

I don't see anything wrong with actors using stunt doubles for specific things, like fight scenes or anything with the potential of injury. Stunt doubles can be replaced when injured, and the show goes on. The star gets injured, and all sorts of arrangements and excuses have to be made for why they aren't able to do their jobs properly. Having said that, I also believe that no actor should ever try and take credit for doing their own stunts when someone else actually took the falls.

If all of the fight scenes had been left strictly to Sarah, it would have been a very boring show. Even though she claimed to be a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do, I never saw her actually do anything that might have supported that claim.

Woow if she told him that she did ALL her stunts then thats devastating cos she did have a stunt double in season 1 and had to perform some dangerous moves. And yea, stars shouldn't do their own dangerous stunts cos of injuries thats true. however, What bothers me is that sarah took credits for her stunt double's stunts. Thats a horrible thing to do.. Imagine working ur ass off to do a perfect job and get hurt a lot and then in the end someone goes out and takes credit for ur work. Really devastated to hear what sarah told wes craven.

Yea I support the idea of having a stunt double its very necessary. Like u said, the show would have been boring with just some regular fight scenes but yea thats what bugs me about SMG, that she took credits for someone else's stunts. I can even let go of the fact that she didn't tell anyone of her cast member that she was quitting and they had to find out through published magazines, but this is just sad IF it is true

You should rest easy because she never did. She once said in an interview that she did stunts "all the time" on Buffy. Simple day-to-day hyperbole. I eat peanuts all the time. I am not currently eating peanuts. This got contorted to all her own stunts somewhere along the line.

Before he got a hair up his butt about whatever, Pruitt used to praise her treatment of the stunt crew. There are numerous pics of her with the stunt people. She presented an award with melissa and michelle, her doubles.

IF Aly found out the show was ending via that magazine, it was her fault. Joss, Nick and all around common sense have said it wasn't true and all the actors knew.

Sarah does have a black belt in taekwondo. I mean that's more than a lot of actresses playing superheroes have. So even if she didn't do some stunts, the fighting was somewhat real. Also James actually lit his hand on fire for a stunt in Lovers Walk. Commitment.

Sarah is not Tom bloody cruise. She was a teenage soap star that suddenly found herself in an action packed genre show. I think she can be justified in being proud of herself. The stunts on Buffy look brutal. Letting the actors do too many would have sent them out of commission way too often.

The change from actor to stunt double is painfully obvious early in the show. There are much more close ups in the later seasons. Things are much better already in season 2. Sarah was good with the high kicks.

Sarah does have a black belt in taekwondo.

She said once in an interview that she had "studied" TKD, which could mean anything from, she had taken a couple of lessons, to she had extensive training, but never mentioned any rank, The studio released that she had a brown belt, but I seriously doubt that she actually knew the difference between "poomse" and "dare ee on" (forms and sparring) At least, she never showed any sort of technique that would indicate it in any of the fight scenes when she was actually recognizable.

It's funny the way the show is cut like that. Numerous directors, Rosenthal from Normal Again f. ex, have said she's really good it. Strangely it's all framed close when she's on screen and full when the double is.

Broken ribs? Oh noes! And a fractured foot/broken finger? Double oh noes!

We knew there was a reason why all those stunts looked so realistic! quote from Perez Hilton but these did happen she said in a Q&A on twitter in 2013.

James did what?

She probably did "a bit" of the prep work for the stunt, but as for the main stunt that's what a stunt person is for so to be honest taking away work from a professional artist is kind of the wrong way to do it and to be honest no wonder the original stunt woman got her back up about it. Professional actors aren't professional stunt people and vice versa. As what recently occurred on the Deadpool 2 set proves, these people can seriously injure or even kill themselves doing these stunts, so the showrunners wouldn't want their main star to have the possibility of injury.

I mean I know Tom Cruise makes a point of "doing all his own stunts" but that's impossible. The movie wouldn't be able to get him insured if he did them all. He does some stunts (as proven by his recent broken bone!) but there's no way he does them all. It's possible he simply isn't insured, but I doubt it. He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world. I bet his premiums are through the roof, and he's lost his no claims bonus now! 😀

Let's just say, if it were me starring and my character was a kickboxer, even with three years experience of kickboxing I wouldn't do my own stunts. I'm not a professional kickboxer; and let me tell you, getting hit really hurts! 😛

James did what?

It was their hands in Chosen, too. They coat your hand in jelly. It's a pretty every day stunt.

I'll point out again that the all her own stunts original story is hyperbole. Even back then words would get twisted around.

Another example is Joss making fun of CI calling it porny. Joss said that and talked down about it and Sarah said that hurt her feelings a bit and he owed her flowers. This was twisted around and syndicated as Sarah bursting into tears over what Joss said.

Cruel Intentions?
Yes, Cruel Intentions. I've succumb to the internet and have a tendency to use shorthand for everything now.
Haha, I was racking my brain trying to think of something "porny" SMG had done, don't know why Cruel Intentions didn't come to mind. Wonder what he thought of Veronika Decides To Die.

I guess now we can make fun of him call him porny. *dry heaves*

I think it's pretty obvious for the most part that Sarah doesn't do her own stunts, I remember it being like a 'thing' when you in Hush got to see her do her first proper high kick (when she's fighting off the henchmen together with Riley), beyond that you can really see the stuntwomen like 90% of the time. But I'm sure SMG did what she could and there are plenty of opportunities to get hurt even if you're only doing a little. Stunts are tough work and SMG is a tiny person, one misplaced fall, move, etc could result in a minor injury. I've never read about her taking all the credit either, just that weird tale from Pruitt about how she treated Sophia.

Didn't her husband, Pruitt, also come out with an apology about that? Said it was because he was an alcoholic and really messed up at the time?

Yeah, but was Sophia an alcoholic too? Cause she was the one who made the claims, right?

I guess not, I just assumed that most of the claims where channeled through that piece that Pruitt wrote. Although if he exaggerated and Sophia didn't correct him, then I kind of see her as a distrustful source anyway. Not saying SMG didn't do anything wrong, though I personally haven't read about her taking credit for doing all the stunts, but it might mostly be a clash of two ego's which Sarah won because she's the star and Sophia was replaceable and didn't take it well.

Off course Sarah did not do her own Stunts, even if she could she would not have time ...this is people twisting things around, like she is a bitch not being on the interviews in later seasons ( they were generally tape on set or when Buffy was filming ) she was in every seine , so was busy the whole time when working and would rather spend what little spare time she had with Freddie, she worked for JW if he had wanted Sarah to do interviews then he should have found time for Sarah in work time.....but that would have probably stopped production and cost money
It goes with what a bitch not telling the people she worked with she was leaving , we have no idea what was said what Sarah was told ! but they both agree that Sarah told JW she would not be coming back for S8 early in S7 , it was JW who let let people sign for S8, JW job to let his employee's know what was happening. JM pushed for a show about a souled vampire , ED was asked to star in S8 , but already had something to do and would not do it unless JW took over as show runner ,I understand Sarah was asked to do S8 by the studio ( and something later ) but would only do it she could read the scripts before signing and none was fore coming. I think JW did kept his staff in the Dark on purpose JW let his staff down not Sarah
The shit Sarah got for not attending the wrap party I understand Buffy ran 3 days over and she was contracted to film Scooby Doo she had little or no choice, production was probably waiting on her .
No body is happy 24/7 but I think a lot of what is posted about Sarah being a bitch comes from Pruit he was jealous and fuelled by drink did stupid things ,I don't know why but he got the sack ,he posted a lot on the Bronze and wrote the knight's parable . he did say in a interview for the 20th celebrations that he was sorry and blamed it on drinking he said he always felt he should protect Sarah but the only person he did not protect her from was him
I only read last night about someone who supposed to have been in London for the opening of Hairspray 2007 saying Sarah was a bitch not signing autographs or having pictures taken with fans . It had been counteracted almost straight away by a video showing Sarah doing just that
No Sarah gets a lot of shit from the haters ( she has had death threats when she congratulates DB on his birthday ) most of which seems totally unfounded
