Fred/Gunn vs. Fred/Wesley

As a black buffyverse fan, let be honest the racist bias to wes and fred was clear , however fred and gunn were a better couple. the only reason some may prefer wes to gunn was because gun was a black kid from the street. there I said it.

Wesley was kind of obsessed with fred to the point of creepy. sure they had more in common but that was based more on their profession.

fred and wes had more in common in dealing with real life to wes who was like a rich british kid.

Out of the two I much prefer Fred/Wesley. Their on-screen chemistry works better for me than Fred/Gunn.

Plus, I am a huge Gunn/Gwen shipper so I don't want him with anyone else, except maybe Faith, who I also think he has loads of on-screen chemistry with.

Gunn and Faith all the way. The little exchange between them after Faith asks him if he's any good in a fight:

Gunn: I hold my own.
Faith: That's a shame.

tells us everything we want to know about who Gunn belongs with. Both are streetwise fighters and neither had much to do with higher education. One woman who was Canadian but had been married to a Peruvian once told me to never underestimate the difficulties in adapting to a different culture. Keeping your woman in line is a big deal for some cultures and just because he marries you doesn't mean he is going over to your way of thinking. Literature and movies may adopt a "love conquers all" theme but in reality it doesn't work. She left him after he broke her jaw and damaged one of her eyes. I'm not saying Gunn would ever hit Fred but there are a lot more differences in the way of seeing the world that can lead to incompatibility.

Fred is best off with Wesley. They have similar attitudes to education, similar experiences. Wesley has "daddy issues" but shows he is willing to destroy his father's influence. I still say the disconnect between Wesley in Buffy and Wesley in Angel is too great to really believe, but eventually when he is having sex with Lilah while he has Justine locked up in a room where he threatens to take away her bucket is totally badass. The only time he ever threatened Fred was in "Billy" where he was under the influence of a misogynistic spell.

Fred and Wesley had way more in common than Fred and Gunn did but it does lend credence to the saying "opposites attract"! I would have liked to have seen Fred and Wesley's relationship developed more in the show before they transformed Fred into blue meanie!

Yeah but Gunn wasn't happy with himself he wanted to be like Wesley as shown by agreeing to mind alterations just to be more academically clever so he'd probably go after girls who aren't like himself even if there's challenges.

Gunn and Fred were adorable at first, but it was a bit obvious that it was infatuation in the beginning.

Fred and Wes had more in common. Both had brilliant minds, offbeat humour, and a lot in common. It was a forgone conclusion that they'd eventually fall in love.

I'm a Fred/Gunn fan.
Didn't think she had chemistry with Wes. Yes, on paper they had more in common, but for me Fred and Gunn worked better as a couple.

I think only Joss could write a story where Amy Acker is the Delilah DiCrescenzo of this universe. That should be the weird part. But, good acting on both couples, I guess.
