How the hell was your day? 🐕

I only recently discovered the joy of many pillows. I used to just use a folded towel as a pillow. Then pillows got much cheaper at Kmart and I got 4. Then I realised how comfy it is in bed to be surrounded by pillows. So I got more. And so has the poodle. She demands a pillow for her head in bed, she digs at me until I let her have one.

Felt like a busy week for me just because I have had to socialise too much. One neighbour wanted chattings 3 days in a row! He did just lose two friends so I made time for him obviously, but still tired me out lol. Another 2 wanted help wit the $100 fuel voucher that all in my state are getting. But I couldnt figure out how to claim it either, so couldnt help them.

The weather is just wonderful, so I have been doing good walkies. Its just perfect with the still air and soft rain. I am soaking up every moment because this season passes far too fast 🙁 I have already done 5kms walkies today and want to go for a drive to do more walkies, but the dogs are soggy and tired so I should probably wait until tomorrow. But the pull of going out is so strong, just because I can actually function in this weather - I want to go do functioning!

I was having one of them days,
I had written something really interesting on a post, then I wanted to know the date that the something really interesting had been written, after finding it I decided to go back to the original post to add the date of the original post.
Then I found that my memory had completely packed up,
I couldn't remember what I had just looked at or where it was, then I realised I couldn't remember what post I was going to put it on.
There are times when I wish I had a memory that worked.

Of course I couldn't remember the thread that post was on either, I'd best stop here as I doubt if I didn't I'd remember what I'm going on about.

This mental disability of short term memory loss can be a right sod at times, I noticed the thumbs up be November (thanks). Thing is I've got no memory of writing the post.

Exactly! When I'm surrounded by pillows I feel so comforted and secure. It's sheer heaven. All I need now is a giant pram and a nanny to push me around. 😅

You need to join the urban iditerod, a parallel to the Alaskan dog sled race where the sled is a shopping cart and there is a musher and four or more people who are the "dogs" in the race. There is no problem having someone in the cart and that someone could be you, surrounded by pillows, of course. These events are usually pub crawls that raise money to alleviate hunger. Send us the pix when you do it!

I'm usually not sad when celebrities or media stars die, they've generally had pretty full and great lives. I just found out today that Matt Brown from Alaskan Bush People died a couple months ago. That made me sad. Poor guy had a really hard time of life. Its more sad because he has tried to exit before, everything got worse for him, and he just held on, until he couldn't anymore. I hope there is only good ahead for him now.

Speaking of death, the neighbour that died a few weeks back kids came to clear out his house today. He would always talk about how much his records and guitars were worth. How much his kids would cherish the stuff he collected. They basically opened the place up and said take whatever you want. I get it, I wouldn't want to clear out a place like that either, but the guy was utterly convinced that his collected treasures would be equally treasured by his offspring. Its not, I'm sorta surprised they didnt light a match to it all. It is open burning season now after all.

It's sad when someone's stuff isn't looked at the same way by their inheritors.
Had a pretty good day. Got a lot of yard work done earlier. Now I'm cooking some chicken wings and ground bison for dinner. Getting ready for fireworks later, and the rowdiness that is about to happen in my neighborhood. 😂 (This is the biggest party holiday in my neighborhood, with New Year's Eve being second.)

Then I'll probably do some night gardening and plant a few flowers that I haven't gotten around to planting yet.

I went to the history museum today and saw an interesting exhibit about the flag. It strikes me that all around the world, we use a flag for a symbol of so many things - our country, our state or city, our protest movement, our sports team. I wonder how this idea first came into being.

On the way out, we saw that people were already getting in place for viewing the fireworks in the park next to the museum. They were going to sit in the sun for hours! I'm lucky to live two blocks from a great viewing area, so I can just mosey down 15 minutes before the show.

The restaurant we ate at had some French people watching France's World Cup match on TV. It's odd because France never played a match here in my city, so I wondered what match they were here for, instead of being wherever France was playing. But they were enjoying themselves, and I hope they will come out to watch our fireworks. Now that I think of it, I should have thanked them for their country's help in our Revolution!

That is sad. But think of it this way: he died feeling his things were valued, and didn't have to have the heartbreak of seeing them disposed of while he was still alive, like so many elderly do as they move into assisted living or such. I've been in his kids' shoes, with an apartment full of my parents' stuff halfway across the country from me. I wanted to keep so many things, but it would have been too hard to transport or ship them.

I telework. Yesterday my wife messages me that there's no water downstairs. I head down to check it out, and going down the stairs I suddenly hear water flowing outside. I go outside to look... and the city is replacing our water meter. The water I hear is them flushing the line.

I'm not annoyed that they replaced the meter. I AM annoyed that there was no notice.

@NotASlayer said "It's sad when someone's stuff isn't looked at the same way by their inheritors."

It can be sad, but it's also something that should be addressed earlier. Case in point: My folks are into genealogy, and have a bunch of old (early 1900s) family photos hanging in their home. Other than one picture of one of my grandfathers, none of them are people I've ever met.

My brother and I both felt the same way, so we told them (politely) that they were things we weren't really interested in, and if they knew family members who might want them they should plan that way.

It was bad for them not to give notice, but at least you know it's not a break in your water main.
Busy few days. Catching up on stuff in the garden today. Went to the city yesterday with my neighbour. He got these new sunglasses which were phenomenal compared to my cheap ones. But at $255 you would hope they were good glasses! I am considering upgrading though - not to a $255 sort of bracket, but something better than I have because the difference was significant and I might suffer less on summer drives with better sunnies on.

I went to aldi to stock up on tinned beans and bacon. Kmart was a horror show. It is the middle of school holidays here and it was ridiculously busy. I couldnt find everything I wanted but I had to get out of there, it was so hot and full of snot. We do not need that level of heating when there are that many humans in the space! Yuck.

I must go walkies tomorrow because we didnt today, but we spent a lot of time in the yard so no one seems to bothered by it.

You still have Kmarts in Australia? They're gone in the US. I'm jealous!

Sounds like something straight out of a horror movie. 🤣

Nightmares come to life!
I took a chance and drove my malfunctioning car up to shop today. I had to move it, anyway. But I didn't count on how humid it was, and ended up wishing I could have just crossed the street for the bus rather than lugging four bags and an 18-pack of toilet paper several blocks back to my car. I've gotten stuck in the process of getting a new car. Gotta get back on that.

It would be so much easier if a new car just materialised, without you having to shop around and compare things (especially when you have little knowledge on stuff!). Just new car, pay this much, it's perfect.

That's exactly what I want! I actually bought a scratch lottery ticket that had a car as the top prize, even though the car isn't the type I want. Well, I didn't win it anyway, but I did win $10, so got my money back. Is that the universe telling me I have to do the hard work? Probably.

I have been doing all those womans magazine puzzles lately too. They have the same car as mine as the prize anyway, but really I'm trying to win a hairdryer, new phone and new laptop haha.

The puzzles take me about 2 nights to do now! I used to be much quicker! But at least I can enter online without all the fuss of posting off the answers.

The power is out in town again today so we are sitting on the patio listening to the generators that have started up all over town. There is a slight rattle to the whole place because they are all diesel generators.

I should look for puzzles like that here...
Went pub. For the first time ever, I drove there. I went to walk, like usual, but there is this creepy guy who has been walking up and down past my house all afternoon. I'm so glad I have dogs who were barking at him earlier. Thats why I noticed him again tonight when I went to walk out the gate in the dark he was still wandering up and down. So I took my car lol. I have never been scared walking at night here, I used to go out to the train tracks to watch the stars, but that dude freaked me out. Plus the street light is out again so I thought it a good idea to set off all my sensor lights on the way out and the way in.

Call the cops on him!
Had an afternoon tea, but the cakes and savoury bits felt more winter than summer in the menu. Not even a cucumber sandwich!

Sacrilege! Summer high tea without cucumber sandwiches is no high tea at all!

I did a maccas run with the dogs while the power was out today. We went for a walk on the coast and I saw a giant petrel. I would not have recognised it if not for all the tv news showing them with bird flu!

We walked along the coast, the water was rough. They say the winds come straight off Antarctica. It was refreshing but I'm not sure literal. I spose it is literal, there is no other land between there and Antarctica, just a whole lot of ocean.

The drive home was nuts. Holiday makers are stupid drivers. I wish they would spread their visits over the year rather than all coming down here at once.
