Today was busy but in a good way. We went out to dinner and my eldest's teacher messaged us to tell us how proud she was of him today, which is fantastic. He's a very bright kid, but bored easily

After a very fraught week of back-and-forth emailing, I have put a down payment on a car! It will arrive at the end of September, and I'm starting to feel excited. I'm still worn out from the negotiations, though - they do that on purpose to wear you down. I did a lot of research, because I want a car that will last 20 years and get good gas mileage, like my last one. I picked a classic model, and then they had shortages all summer, which is why I have to wait. Fingers crossed that it will now go smoothly!😬

My friend's Husband was CARJACKED last night. He was beaten and they threatened him with knives and cleaned his bank account out while breaking is wrist stamping it on the floor! They left him in a ditch, took their car (disability) and phone which is bad in itself but it had their disabled son's car chair & buggy in too. They are obviously seriously shook up at the moment. Just waiting to find out when I can go over. At the moment they are dealing with police and insurance 🙁

There are sick people in this world 🙁

I just pray they recover from this ok.

Holy crap. It began raining about 6am, and waited until there was a lull in the storm. Three hours later it calmed down so I went to Target....when I came out, the skies had opened up. It was ridiculous, just crazy rain that blew sideways because of the high winds.

Came home looking like a drowned rat, but at least I got my chocolate! Until an hour ago, the rain was eve worse and it looked liked a huge cloud had settled everywhere. Very spooky.

I successfully took a complicated bus route to the DMV to renew my license. They require appointments, and apparently the only way you can get an appointment is to go in person to get one, since there are never any available online and no one ever answers their phone.🤪 I found this out when I went three weeks ago. But this time with appt, they let me in, and said I might be up next. In fact, it was 30 minutes, during which I had to avoid reading anything for fear my eyes would get blurry before the test.😵 But I got it done, and also got info for a friend who is homebound on how to renew without having to go in. The website says to call a phone number about this, which is also never answered. Our tax dollars at work!

It was a fun adventure, going through neighborhoods I never see, and I got Taco Bell, and brought KFC and hum bow home, since I never get a chance to eat at any of these places. @Anyanka Bunny Slayer is always mentioning KFC, and it makes me jealous! And now I have a current license (well, a temporary piece of paper), so they will let me pick up my new car, which is coming sometime in the next couple weeks. Whew!

@NotASlayer Here we renew licenses online.

We can only renew online every other renewal. And yet, when you try to find info on their website about making an appointment, they keep extolling the virtues of doing it online. Well, that would suit me fine if they would have let me! But I renewed for eight years, the max that I could, and I can renew online next time, so it will be 16 years before I have to go through this again, I hope.

My day has been ok. Been doing a bit of housework, had multiple coffee breaks, had music on, chilled online and now doing dinner!

Today was the British Car Day with about 1000 cars showing up. It was a lot of walking in the Bronte Park Conservation Area but it was worth it. One owner let me sit in his old Bentley and the steering wheel was the thinnest one I had ever seen at about a half inch thick. There was a Jaguar XKE that showed up in a cloud of steam from a blown cooling system. The car I liked best was a TVR S2 (same as the old 280i) but I could never keep it in parts. A very nice way to spend the day.

I have been sick since late Friday and starting to feel better-ish. Today was still draining though haha thanks to the toddler. Overall decent day, though.
