Hi all,

I wanted ideas on how S6 would have been different if Dawn had died instead of Buffy. I know a lot of you people would have preferred that so what would you do with the gang going further in S6?

Be creative!

The memory of Dawn should fade with fewer and fewer people remembering her as time goes on just like the memory of Johnathan Superstar faded within a few days after the spell was broken. As an added bonus, maybe Buffy was closest to her but maybe someone else carries on the memory of Dawn longer than her. Maybe she stays long enough to send the Turok-Han to some other dimension in Season 7 since there is no sense to what Buffy was doing.

Bargaining Part 1 and 2 were good episodes and Buffy being brought back from Heaven as opposed to Hell was a nice twist. However, they kind of wrote themselves into a corner with Dawn because if they had killed her off then all season 5 would be known for is being a big hoohah about a character that amounted to nothing but a plot device.

I remember reading something about if Dawn had died then Buffy could have just sold the house and moved into Faith's apartment, which would have been great, given that it pretty much gets forgotten right after season 3.

Well Faith's apartment was pretty much trashed from the fight between Faith and Buffy and I am sure the Mayor paid for it.

I liked Dawn and her existence never really bothered me. Though they could have given her some better storylines in season six. I am glad that she was able to mature in season 7.

Also, Buffy's death at the end of season five was such an amazing moment, i would never trade it with anything else.

If Dawn was sufficiently anchored in Buffy's reality for Buffy to remember her, I think we would have seen an extremely depressed, guilt-ridden Buffy in S6. Not much of a difference from the S6 we have, possibly? I can imagine Buffy drawing lines between her dad leaving, killing Angel, Angel leaving, Riley leaving, Joyce dying and Dawn dying, painting an increasingly bleak picture as herself being the one deserving and causing that everyone around her disappears one way or another. Giles leaving (as we must assume that Head would want to go back to England at the time he did) wouldn't make that much better.

if dawn died hmm well Tara, would have been the saddest member of the gang since she give up the most for her remember tough love she could have given dawn up but she did not id dawn died she would have most likely leave Sunnydale for awhile and return later.
