Hey! So I'm not sure how popping this forum is anymore, seems to still be a thing so I thought I'd come back on and maybe I'd make it a semi-habit again. I'm a big Buffy fan and I have been for a while. Not as long as some of you but long for my own life, as I watched it in middle school and I'm about to finish up my undergrad this June. I have so much merch, I can't wait to share some of it with y'all who probably have the exact same things and better etc. This forum has such a special place in my heart because I found Buffy and had no one to talk to about it then I came on here and my life changed slightly. I came on here before I even knew Tumblr or Twitter were a thing. I left it though and migrated to tumblr. I was a baby then and I think maybe a forum might be better!

I have so much to say honestly. I'm such a fan. I grew up right by where they filmed, right by the high school and her home and super close to the spot they filmed Will's big s6 scene. Then guess where I decided to go to college.... Yep, UCLA. Buffy being filmed here was POSSIBLY a reason why I chose to come here. Since then I've written a couple Buffy related papers but I'd never share those cos I think they were a bit underdeveloped. However I AM working on a book focusing on Buffy. It actually is a Poetry book that also focuses on race. If anyone would be interested in talking to me about that, I'd totally love the conversation! I'd love to hear others opinions and even anyone's rec's for people's articles/essays/books etc. I've found a lot but I want more! It's going to be a thing I'd really want to traditionally publish! I'm doing an independent study class that I'm just focusing on finishing a good draft of that book. It might be around 160/170 pages? Which is quite a bit for a book of poetry lol.

Aside from that, all I do is talk about Buffy and it's pretty fun. I don't know many big Buffy fans IRL but I have a few. A casual friend of mine used to host the Slayerfest98 Podcast, so thats cool. OH! I also went to the Buffering the Vampire Slayer first Buffy Prom in LA! It was amazing, there was an amazing Kendra cosplayer, 90's music and merch! I can talk more about that too.

I think that's most of my Buffy stuff. Aside from that, I am a queer mexican-american (Chicano) dude from LA, english major, writer. I love tv, movies and books. All types of narratives basically. I have a girl dog named Hades and a hamster named Appa. I hope you are all doing fine and I'd love to be friends!

Wow! i'm really intersted to see pics of your collection 😀 and hear more about your book. 🙂 I love collecting Buffy/Whedonverse merch! I started watching Buffy when I was 9 and collecting merch when I was 11. 🙂
You sound so excited and passionate about the fandom! I love that, 'cause I am too. But honestly all people on BB are. That's one of the great things here! 😀
Willow is my favourite character too! 😍
And Fred from Angel, did you watch Angel too? And what's your favourite couple? (if you are into shipping) And favourite season?
Btw I am an LGBTQ+er too! 😉 (if you can say that 😛)

Hi! So I'm one of the younger members of this forum (I'm 16) and I literally only started watching Buffy at the beginning of this year, but I'm super into metaphors and I love monsters so I got pretty into it. I don't really own many Buffy things apart from the boxset and the OMWF soundtrack.
And as you can imagine, my generation isn't one that had Buffy so it's nice to discuss with fans because I don't know any fans in real life.

Exactly! I wasn't even born when Buffy ended! So yeah I agree, our generation didn't have Buffy and discussions with others who love the show are always great! 😀
I don't know many people IRL who watched Buffy, only my parents, other family members and friends with whom I watched it, a guy from my local comic store and a woman from the thalia book store near where I lived before. I bought a few books of Buffy from the 20th anniversary merch in 2017 and the woman from thalia was like: "You know Buffy? Aren't you too young for that?" I said no, and we talked a bit more about Buffy, her favourite character was Dawn, but then I had to go, because the queue behind me was getting longer.

And I don't know anyone in my generation IRL who knew Buffy before I told them about it.
I watched Buffy with 4 friends (one of them is stuck in season 6 since like... FOREVER! She just doesn't find the time to continue! 🙄 The others finished with me 😉) and I watched Angel with 1 friend complete and started with 2 other friends (still in season 1, again we didn't find the time to continue🙄).
And others just heard about it from me, causeI talk about it everyday. 😛

I try to spread the love for the Buffy and Whedonverse in my generation! Maybe will try it more with the BOOM! Comics and the reboot if it's good, because they're made for this generation. And if my friends like it, then maybe I can get even more to watch the original 😀
The Buffyverse love will never die!!!

I accidentally got my little brother into watching it and he's now kind of obsessed (he loves Buffy, Spike and Willow) but none of my friends are really that interested. And yeah I hope more people watch it too. The only reason I heard about Buffy was because I knew it was one of those TV shows that managed to change TV and plus my uncle used to be a big fan. As well as that, I'm usually not into shows that have teenagers as it's intended audience because its usually either fantasy or mystery with romance as a main focus and I have never really enjoyed romance. The fact that Buffy deals with relationships (besides Angel) in a completely different way to a lot of shows aimed at teenagers today really intrigued me, as welll as the fact it managed to have action, fantasy, drama as well as a lot of messages amazed me. And again the metaphors, everything (from literature, tv, films) that I love the most have so many layers to it, including Buffy, its such a shame people around our ages don't really know about it.

100% Agree! So true what you said!
Welcome back. I’ve been a long-ish fan of Buffy since 2009 when I started watching the series on Syfy UK. I never really got into it before that, though I watched a few episodes here and there from seasons 5 and 6 on tv3 Ireland around 2002/2003. I actually first found out about the show from reading about it in the GameMaster video game magazine lol.

I’m not a big sci-fi/fantasy follower or fan of teen dramas, but I love Buffy. It’s still one of my top 3 shows along with Angel and The Fugitive 1960s series.

Interesting to hear that you’re a writer. Your book on poetry sounds good.

I will show my collection soon! and I do like some couples and did watch angel! I like Bangel and Tillow and Willow/Oz! I love Fred!! I love Cordy and Fred a lot in Angel and also Harmony! God, I love her lol. I'm not sure if I have a favorite season of Angel but my favorite season of Buffy is without a doubt season 5! Glory is the best villain and I love her so much.

My generation sort of barely missed Buffy too! But wow 16, I was a little younger when I found Buffy too so I totally relate to you. I think more and more fans will be coming so fear not!

I was just at the BOOM! Comic booth this past weekend at WonderCon. My friend works with them on a different comic and she got me a cute little giles tote! Love it. I'm hoping with her working with them I can get some more insight into the Buffy comics but I'm also not sure how I feel about them. I'll have to search for a thread about that new comic series!

I've gotten like 4 people into watching it, close to convincing another one soon. I even dated a few people who have watched it, it defs was a factor in why I was interested in even getting to know them lol

My little brother is actually obsessed with Spike now, I can't have a conversation with him that doesn't mention Spike haha
Yeah! I like to write fiction and poetry! The poetry book is something I'm really hoping to chat with other people about, especially the race aspect of it.
I've been in a live stream with Benjamin Alire Sáenz. He's Mexican-American and queer.

I've read one of his books! I applied to be in workshop with him as the teacher but have yet to hear back.
