The "House" is the never identified secret entrance to the Albert Hall-sized super secret bunker below where hundreds of scientists & SF-types imprison & experiment on hundreds of demons & vampires & other "HSTs". 🫡

The house contains tier 1 sensors & cameras & guards who..... oh..... wait..... how did Buffy & Xand manage to sneak in undetected? Then they snuck in again to rescue Oz..... 😵‍💫

Generally it's not a good idea to signal that you have a secret underground bunker where someone would have remembered the hundreds of cubic yards of soil being removed and thousands of tons of concrete being poured in and there would have been architectural drawings and construction permits issued by the city..

I used to be part of classified meetings taking place at York University in north Toronto and we never had that sort of thing. What we had was a building at the extreme northeast of the campus that was used for the Institute of Space and Terrestrial Science and no one ever bothered us. If I was writing the story of the Initiative, we would have been in a ground-level building in a secluded part of the campus that had some name that guaranteed that few people would be interested. You could have a basement there but it would not need to ne ten stories down.

This is why when you build your secret underground lair, you never apply for planning permission.

Probably the absolute best place to hide secret places is out in the open. You can get away with a lot at office parks and parks of small industrial units. Half the places on those things, no-one is really sure what they are doing anyway and it is totally expected that you have people coming and going regularly.
