The Library as Scooby HQ

Following on from the thread I posted about Giles' apartment being a great spot for the scooby HQ in season four, I thought I'd post this follow up post about the library.

So, the library... Where to begin?

During seasons 1, 2 and 3 it was the cornerstone of all concocted plans by the core scoobies, being where Giles was based and where everyone generally hung out. As Miss Calendar says in one of the episodes, 'Wow, you kids really dig the library'. ('To read makes our speaking English good'...).

The library has such an atmosphere about it and is the home to countless pivotal scenes whilst the show was still being based at the school. I could name a few scenes, but any fan of the show will doubtless get what I'm talking about. Many epic moments happened in the library, as well as some sad, touching and hilarious moments.

For instance, the library compared to the Magic Box? I mean, come on, there's just no comparison.

Well yeah. I would agree, the library is the most iconic setting in the show, with the only real contender being the Bronze. Unless you count "Gothic Cemetery" and "Abandoned Old Church." The Magic Store is a good set, but it kind of breaks the masquerade. It's also pretty big, especially for a business that was previously shown to be a small storefront. Of course, neither place was warded against vampires, I mean, even Duncan MacLeod eventually realized it's best to sleep in a Church. I also suppose, as the post-atomic age became the information age, and as witchcraft became a bigger part of the story, the change did work with the writing. You could look up stuff on the web you really couldn't have five years earlier, and you needed a place to find magic ingredients.
