Question Would Angel have killed Connor?

Connor is sitting at the dining table with his new family, engaging in friendly animated conversation.

If it had been a SMASH CUT, Connor would have had something sharp fall on him at the scene of the shootout. If it had been FADE TO, he would have slowly disappeared and come up in the new home. But it was CUT TO and he got cut. Directors aren't always the sharpest tools in the shed.

No, that was just a joke - cut (with a knife) and cut (to a different scene) are the same words used differently.

I don't understand how people think Angel killed Connor in Home, even if a writer said so. We're not even sure he cuts him, just that he motioned to and that's when W&H pulled the trigger. Not to mention the fact that a simple cut would not kill someone very quickly, this would be a bleeding out process, especially for someone with superpowers. And we know the reality switch happens immediately. And sure he erased his memories, but if our memories are all that constitute if we are alive, then old people with no memory are dead.

Why can't Connor just pull a Buffy Summers? or A Prophecy Girl? Die, fulfil the prophecy, come back 5 minutes to 147 days later then poof instant victory!

I've just rewatched 'Home' and I do think Angel needed the intention to kill Connor, in order to set the spell in motion.

I've listened to the commentary by Tim Minear.

Angel kills ''old'' Connor which sets in motion a blood spell that Angel had agreed with Lilah and ''new'' Connor has the happily ever after ending. The end scene with Connor mirriors the first scene Angel hallucinated in episode 1 of this season.

If Angel only needed Connor's blood or wound him, then the spell would have already been set in motion as soon as he threw the knife into his son's leg. I believe he cut his throat, but immediately after that act, the spell kicked in. Therefore, I don't think he actually killed Connor, but he did have the intention to (in order to give him a new life). Luckily, Connor probably didn't die before the spell started working.

I think Angel killed Connor in Home. It ties in with Buffy not killing Dawn in The Gift. Everything they do is mirrored but they handle things as a feminine versus masculine archetype.

Connor's arrival was prophesied.
Dawn's arrival was prophesied.

Ex Watcher (Giles) reads a prophecy, he's aftaid Buffy won't kill Dawn.
Ex Watcher (Wesley) reads a prophecy, he's afraid Angel will kill Connor.
