EW's - March Cover: Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast reunites for 20th anniversary

My thoughts exactly. I didn't care for the Entertainment Documentary format, as it's been done so many times before and it was a lot of the same old, same old. So in that sense it felt like the show wasn't really made with the fans in mind, but more of the general viewer. It especially bugged me how the EW crew kept commentating/summarizing on things that we already know.

So like you I would have prefered more of a panel discussion type of show where we'd seen the cast interact more with each other.

Still it's amazing to see them all together again. 🙂
Yesterday I was feeling very tired and having a cold. So I felt like crashing in the TV sofa, not really having much energy. Then I found this teaser clip of the cast together again and after watching that I was feeling excited and happy. It was like I got all my energy back. I think it's amazing what a powerful thing fandom can be and I honestly didn't know that Buffy could still make me feel like that.

Yeah Agreed, it was the same old, same old. Especially with how many times they kept talking the same things.

Too bad Buffy isn't at comic con this year for a really proper panel to talk. I know X-Files did in 2013 for its 20th anniversary I think or did a convention reunion.

I agree, it brought back so many memories and made me smile. Buffy always does that for me, and so glad how strong the fandom is, and how much merchandise still gets made years after it ended.

This is so exciting and awesome to see.. Especially after David Boreanaz shot down any hope of an actual reunion.its bittersweet though bc I honestly just want them to come back- just do a f*cking movie for us!the fandom is clearly still alive and with joss and everyone still involved, it's not like it would tarnish the original series.
Regardless, I love how stylishly goth the shoot looks. Can't wait to get the magazine tomorrow!

yes that's what I was thinking. It's nice that he and Sarah did this. I'm sure money was a party of it. And with David heron my a role in a new show, this actually helps his public image. It's just great song them all together again.

Is there a reason why Nicky is separate from the group?

As for a new show or movie, Charisma said the fans would love it, and James said only if it's Joss. I don't think the others are really for it though.

I was wondering if Nick was not let speak with his current mental health issues. Or something less sinister, time constraints?

I thought charismas pose was odd too, but yeah, got it flaunt it, good for her.

For me this reunion was perfect. It made me super happy and if anything it just showed me that a movie is a terrible idea, they're just way too old by now. I know some people don't agree, but I think it'd be cringeworthy to watch them repeat these roles. Keep it as it is and continue in other forms, comics, books, animated show, whatever. But film or actual tv-show, heaven forbid!

Sarah mentioned something about "Godfather Part 3-ing it" and I get that, and I actually respect that they respect the show enough to say "I think we're a bit past this now".

I'd still love it if it happened of course, but I've kinda made peace with the fact it probably never will.

It would be sad and depressing if they were to make a reunion movie or show... and honestly, I would lose all the respect for SMG that I have if that were to happen.

The strange thing is that Joss doesn't seem as opposed to the idea now. I feel like he's always beeen the leader of the NO camp when it comes to reviving it...but his thoughts on how BtVS is constantly an evolving show about different moments in your life and that's not just about high school/youth is interesting.

Yea Joss sounded open to the idea. But if he takes the Batgirl movie, he'll forget about Buffy again. So I don't think it really means anything. But he did say they would all be playing older characters now. Although he said a little bit younger than SMG's actual age. lol. But he's got the comics going and he's not telling that story there. I love Buffy, but I kinda wish Joss would go back to the future with Fray.

Yea I hope it wasn't anything with the cast not wanting to be around him or something. My guess is that he was just late or something. Cause he was in one of the big cast graveyard picture. Poor Nicky, I hope there's no ill will between him and other casts members. I know Emma and CC enjoy seeing him at the cons.

I don't get the Nick not being able to talk comment. He did talk on the reunion show, he was sitting together with Emma and was being interviewed separately.

Comic con or any convention this year would be wonderful. If they could get the same line up as for this photoshot I would so want to go to that one! 🙂
The only Buffy con I've been to was the Halloween one in London 2004 and it was a mixed experience. (They refused to take cards for buying autographs so I wasted a lot of time on Halloween night running around the streets of London looking for an ATM feeling alone and scared!)

As for a new show or movie, Charisma said the fans would love it, and James said only if it's Joss. I don't think the others are really for it though.

A part of me would love to watch a new movie or even remake show. But I am with James on that one, only if Joss is involved.
I mean the Fuller House reboot is totally working since it's a continuation and the original creator is involved so it stays true to the original show. Whereas the new Dallas was a flop because the new showrunner had never even watched the original show and totally didn't get what the fans wanted to see or what made the show great in the first place.

So well if Buffy would ever return in any form, Joss has to be involved. My guess is that it won't return though as a lot of time has passed and if it did it's a fact that the characters would be close to middle aged now! 😵

But oh well it was so great to see them all again for this reunion show. 🙂

Everyone looks great, but Charisma looks literally the same as when she was on BTVS. She's the queen of no aging.
I missed Giles though, I would've loved to see a picture of the core four.

Oh how annoying that must be to find an ATM. I hate that feeling.

To be honest, I feel if they want to do a revival or movie, its getting too late. I know X-Files came back and the actors were older. But I feel that if they did in the future, it will end up being at a time Buffy has her own daughter, and she is slayer. The characters and actors are not old at all, I mean its not like they are Betty White old.

But saying that, I kinda felt if they did revisit it, they should of done so already.

Listen guys, it's only been 14 years since the show ended. I and a lot of people had hoped but never actually thought the band Veruca Salt would reunite but almost 20 years after the original band broke up, they reunited so just bc they haven't had a Buffy reunion yet doesn't mean it can never happen. My only fear and will admit to being the final nail in the coffin is if/when the actors die- God forbid but if they wait too long, it's gonna happen. But as long as they are still kicking, I'm holding out hope.

I liked the Will and Grace special they did during the Presidential election. Like, everyone knew that it was a once off thing (until they announced a new season) but I would love for Buffy to do a mini thing like that- political or not. Although my mind would question how cannon it would be and how much it messes with the comic story line...

That's what I was thinking. But that's for Joss to figure out. Lol. I don't read the comics but if he were to ignore them. I'd be fine with that.

My only concern is that tv reboots have not been that successful lately. I liked Fuller House season 1 but some people thought it was terrible. X-files same thing. Gilmore Girls, people were so excited but it was a disappointment. I don't want the same thing to happen to Buffy. Maybe if the Twin Peaks one is well received.

I think if they did a one off episode special, that would be enough rather trying to do another season. SMG in past said she's too old to keep up with the pace of what was required for Buffy physical wise. David wants nothing to do with another season. Don't know exactly with the others but if it was one episode then I don't think it'd be too bad. *Cough*BringbackTara*cough*

Yeah exactly. Funny how SMG says shes too old, yet Supernatural has been going for 12 years and they don't complain. Yet Jensen Ackles is only 11 months younger than SMG. Plenty of other's too have done shows her age or older. But I think it comes down to SMG just not being a very physical person maybe or she just doesn't like to commit to the hours, and feels she can't handle it anymore her age.

Apart from a one off special or 2 or 3 television movies.

But they could just do an animated series and bring the cast back that way for a series. They can do so much this way without the actors needing to do much. They could even reboot Buffy into modern times through an animated but keeping the same appearance and voices of the originals and call it Buffy 2.0 or something. So much they can do.

At the risk of sounding sexist, the sex matters. Supernatural is on because the two leads are male. It's more acceptable for men to grow old in front of the camera than women. Women, in general, aren't encouraged to show their age the same way men are, especially in action related shows.

*Sigh* Yeah, that is true and I have seen it in Hollywood all the time.

I wish they'd do a big screen Buffy movie to sort of wrap it up a bit more. I would definitely go to the cinema to watch that one and probably more than once!

But I guess Joss doesn't have much interest in that as Buffy is his baby and as long as his comics are selling I doubt he wants to give that up.
