Question Tie In Comics & Graphic Novels.

Canon doesn't depend on who wrote it. It is canon if Joss approved it as canon. There was a lot of stuff in the television series that was canon but written by numerous other writers. As a number of people have noted about the novels, the value of the artistry and story determine if it was a good choice, not whether it was canon.

What are the titles called?

If they are the classic comics they are not canon, but I personally believe that you as a fan have a right to decide what is canon or not for you. The Ten and Rose cameo in season 8 is canon because season 8 is definitely canon.
